Business & Intellectual Talk

I began my college experience in 2000 at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, CA. I was pretty new to the Navy and some of the other guys I worked with encouraged me to attend classes at the local community college in Mission Viejo to pursue a better life and local California girls. It was nice to get away from the uneducated masses at Camp Pendleton and pursue higher learning in Orange County, CA. When I transferred to Iceland in 2003, I began attending University of Maryland, which has campuses on most overseas military bases. I chose to major in History in the hopes of getting out of the Navy and becoming a high school history teacher. A semester or two before finishing, I changed my mind about a career in teaching and wanted to pursue a business degree in the hopes of becoming a Medical Service Corps Officer in the Navy. I looked at switching majors to business and found that I would need another 2 years to finish. After talking to my mother, who was a professional educator, I found out that I could apply for a Master's program in anything regardless of my undergrad degree. I finished my BA in History in May, 2007, while at the same time applying for Temple University's MBA program. I was accepted in July, 2007 and began classes in August, 2007. I am on track to finish in December, 2009, thanks to the Navy's Health Services Collegiate Program, which pays me to attend school full time.
