Chapis

Chapis (which is a shortened name for a now closed-down infamous girlie bar) is only a few km from the center of Baguio City along Marcos Highway. When you drive down (towards the La Union), approximately 5 km out of Baguio you will see some limestone cliffs on the right side. Take the sharp hairpin right turn on to a dirt road. Park here. This road is right across the now -closed Chaparral.

There are two main crag areas, the first being right next to a trail and offering some good top-rope climbs. Unfortunately all climbs here are unprotectable - so you must either top rope or solo. The crag off-trail and to the right is slightly higher (40 feet) and also has some challenging - blank looking sections.

The face on the left offers two top rope lines. However, there are a number of routes of varrying difficulty that reach the top.

Scattered all about the area are superb boulders - most worth mentioning and the topic of the photo exhibitions is Ferdie's Boulder - an excellent sit down start following a roof an steep section on rather sharp limestone.
