I went into the '99 season with out any real knowledge of how the season was going to turn out. I had been at college so I wasn't able to scout much and not many buck were seen in the areas I hunt. On the very first afternoon of bow season I found out that my season might not turn out so bad after all. My sister saw this buck a week before this picture was taken in a horse field about a mile from my house. The first afternoon of the '99 bow season I was staring through my sights at this nice 7 point buck at 22 yards. I got a great shot on him and he didn't run more than 75 yards before he expired. He weighed 145 lbs dressed.

With the beginning of the rifle season I found myself waiting for a buck to come by. Finally after 5 hours of nothing this buck came walking right to me. When I shot, a bigger buck that had been bedded down all morning just out of sight, jumped up and took off. In the end this 5pt 125 lb buck was as good as any. I also know that there is another buck up there for next year!

This year I recieved a doe permit in a lottery drawing by the state of Vermont. I needed one more deer to get the 3 deer limit. On my last day to hunt with a muzzleloader I got a good shot on this doe. She ran about 20 yards and ended up weighing 104lbs.
