High Altitude single wall Tents

Single wall tents from The North Face—a new tent category in 1996—are intended for use at the most demanding levels of high altitude alpine climbing. A single wall tent eliminates the need for a rain fly, simplifying setup, reducing the tent’s weight, and allowing you to pitch a virtually storm-proof shelter in minutes, even within the confines of a narrow snow ledge. The remarkable structural integrity of our High Altitude Single Wall Tents is created by computer-aided catenary cut designs and by poles that pitch inside the tent. Completely waterproof, our single wall tents allow interior moisture to escape through their breathable fabric membrane and unique hooded vents.

THE KEY ELEMENT: VERTEX™ FABRIC

Creating a single wall tent has been an elusive goal for tent designers because, until now, no tent fabric existed that was adequately waterproof, breathable, durable and fire resistant. VerTex, a tent fabric we developed after two years of research, is a truly revolutionary material that meets our demanding standards in each of these categories. VerTex is a three-layer laminate. Its durable interior tricot mesh absorbs and dissipates moisture given off by users inside the tent, allowing it to evaporate through the waterproof, breathable VerTex membrane. It is protected on the outside by double ripstop polyester.

HOODED VENTS

Hooded vents at the top of the tents promote ventilation by drawing moist air out of the tent and increasing circulation.
