  • My wife and I adopted Katy in Feburary of 1995 from the Maryland SPCA in Baltimore. She was found on roaming the streets and was brought in by some kind soul. At the time we got her she was very thin, shy, and a bit insecure. Since then, however, she's become quite an outgoing dog. She's especially fond of children and will go out of her way to get petted by the nearest tot.

When she's not hiking, sleeping, or guarding the house, she also enjoys a good game of fetch with a quality stick, catching frisbees, tracking bugs and, of course, chewing on her sister, Belle, when she deserves it.

Katy and I have also started training in dog agility which we both think is alot more fun than the obedience classes we were taking. Interestingly, working agility, which is kind of obsticle racing with dogs, has made Katy more confident on our hikes. For better or worse, she's much bolder on climbing over, or under, logs and other trail highlights. This is especially important because Katy hates getting her feet wet, so good rock hopping skills are a must when crossing a stream!
