Rovers - A Programme for Young Adults in Scouting
Rovers in Scouting Ireland is a three year pilot project set up to try to address some of
the problems that young adults in Scouting have. It is designed to give a flexible
approach to leadership for those that need it. It also provides an outlet for fun and
personal development to everyone who wants to avail of it. Rovers are in general a group
of young adults who want to give commitment to Scouting and also to get something back from
Scouting. Usually the Crew (group of Rovers) is formed within a Unit or a Region. There can
however be Crews built around an interest (mountaineering, canoeing, etc...) or even Lone
Rovers who are in areas that have few young people but who still want to be part of something.
