Back to Gilwell...

Woodbadge is considered as the premier training in scouting.
It is designed to provide the participant with an opportunity
to learn management skills related to the scouting program,
to refine their own scouting skills, and an opportunity to work
in a Patrol setting. Baden-Powell stated:

"The Patrol Method is not A method,
it is the ONLY method
".

The Woodbadge program reinforces this concept.

While Woodbadge stesses ideas for the Scoutmaster (whether
the Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster) to employ in the
troop, it is also applicable to the Commissioner (District, Unit,
or Council) and the active Committee member. The course
will give them insight into the operation of a troop, and
allow them to better serve the troop and assist the Scoutmaster.

The Boy Scouts of America has Wood Badge programs to meet
the needs of its volunteers. Boy Scout Leader Wood Badge,
Cub Scout Trainers Wood Badge, and a new Varsity Wood Badge
with a new program.
