PY: Hi, everyone, and welcome back finally to another exciting episode of the Yoshi Stadium Tournament!  I’m here, as always, with my comrade, Chunky Smee, who will be giving us an interview with one of our fighters in just a few minutes.  But, first, it’s probably necessary to announce just who we’ll be seeing fighting today!
First up, we have our awesome mascot, and one of the heavy favorites going into this match–Yoshi, everybody’s favorite green dino!  We’ll also see a newbie to the ring, yet an oldie to combat, with Fox McCloud joining the fray!  Also in it to win it today will be the big ape himself, DK, and that tyrannical Koopa, Bowser!  It should definitely be a match of smiles today for our audience!  Before we begin, however, let’s go down to the field and check in with Smee!  Smee?

CS: Hey, hey, Pirate, and welcome to everyone in the audience, as well!  I’m here on the field today with the tough-as-nails Fox McCloud, who is new to this tournament, yet very experienced in fighting!  Tell me, Mr. McCloud-

Fox: Fox.

CS: -Mr. Fox, -

Fox: No, just Fox.

CS: -........Fox, I was wondering what you had up your sleeve today to help you through this fight?

Fox: My arm, which connects to my fist.

CS: Planning to duke it out, are you?

Fox: Not entirely.  I have some reassurance in my holsters.

CS: Ahh, yes, the blasters!  Lest we forget...

Fox: I figure I can mix things up pretty well between my speed and my attacks.  We’ll see how long it takes before they’re out.

CS: Oh, no worries at all here, huh?  Back to you, Pirate.

PY: Thanks, Smee.  Today’s match will be taking place on the frozen tundra of Icicle Mountain, the frosty peaks and home to the Ice Climbers!  As we can see from our view in the box, it’s a long way down, folks, should someone lose their balance and fall off!  It’ll greatly benefit them all to take care not to slip on the ice covering the ground!  Our referee today is none other than the Shy Guy, in all his hooded glory.  Hopefully, however, he’ll keep better care of this match than the last one he reffed–for any who remember, a large fight broke out in the stands, and we ended up commentating THAT brawl while our fighters sat down and watched.  But that was before, and we’re ready to start NOW!  Shy Guy blows the whistle, and weeeeee’re off!

CS: Who’s afraid of the big bad cold?  Apparently, Yoshi is, because he is standing rigidly, freezing his tail off out there!  Bowser, hardly effected at all by the cold, lowers his head and rams Yoshi across the arena!  Owwww!  Yoshi is sailing towards the arena’s edge, but he manages to hover jump back to the edge, where he lands carefully.   B: 1   Y: 0    F: 0   DK: 0

PY: DK thinks he can get a hit off on Bowser, and he swings a massive fist at the Koopa.  Bowser, who is faster than he looks (and he doesn’t look terribly fast) swiftly dodges the punch, then blasts DK with a wave of flames!  Yeowch!  At least he’s probably not cold anymore!   B: 3   Y: 0    F: 0   DK: 0

CS: Fox seems to be wondering if Bowser is cold, however, and he leaps into the flames with his Reflector Shield on!  The flames rebound off of it into Bowser’s face, and he quickly yelps in pain and leaps into the snow bank head first, having roasted himself with his own attack!  Now, who gets the points for that?  B: 3   Y: 0   F: 1   DK: 0

PY: DK missed Bowser, but he doesn’t miss Fox with a well-placed kick that punts Fox up high in the air.  Fox falls straight down, crashing into a pile of snow!  Oooo, a grudge has been formed, I think, and the crowd loves it!  Before Fox can act his revenge, however, Yoshi is back in action and laps up the ape into his mouth!  Seconds later, DK is trapped in an egg, bouncing around frantically as Yoshi uses his flutter jump drill kick to smash him repeatedly in his captive form!  Look at the damage toll rise!  B: 3   Y: 6   F: 1   DK: 1

CS: Bowser, having put out his hair, has stormed back and grabbed up Yoshi in the middle of another jump.  Yoshi is captive!  Bowser immediately slams him down into the snow hard, so hard, in fact, that he bounces twice before coming to a stop on the ground!  Oh, no!  Could this be it for our hero?!   B: 4    Y: 6   F: 1   DK: 1

PY: DK has finally escaped the egg, just in time to see Bowser leap high above Yoshi with his spikes extended, ready to make sure that Yoshi “gets the point” this time!  Bowser sails downwards, and DK smacks him hard with perfect timing as the Koopa falls through the air!  Bowser spirals sideways through the snow, having been blasted by the primate’s thick knuckle-punch!  Ouch!  Yoshi rolls to his feet, and the match continues!   B: 4   Y: 6   F: 1   DK: 2

CS: Fox draws his blasters, having seen for himself that his fists aren’t doing a lot, and he opens fire on DK and Yoshi, who immediately realize that they are being blasted with the lasers!  Yoshi leaps into the air and hovers over behind a snow bank, where he drops to the ground.  DK scrambles as fast as his big monkey frame can move, but he is still pelted with several lasers before he finds shelter behind an icey boulder.  The arena is quiet as everyone contemplates the next move to be made...
B: 4   Y: 6   F: 8   DK: 2

PY: Bowser gets to his feet and charges at Fox, but is blasted in the head with a laser.  Though it doesn’t harm him, as Fox’s lasers never do, he realizes that this is exactly what Fox wants, and he turns quickly and runs at top speed for a thick tree as lasers come showering behind him.  He dives and slides behind just in time!  Surprisingly, he has only been hit twice during his run!
B: 4   Y: 6   F: 10   DK: 2

CS: Something tells me that this would make for a great shoot-out, wouldn’t you agree?  (He pulls a lever and three more blasters identical to Fox’s fall down for the other fighters, who grab them up and retreat again, narrowily avoiding getting hit with shots)

PY: Yeah, I do.  It’ll make for some real action, hopefully!

CS: Fox is definately the sharp shooter here, but we’ve already seen that gun skills aren’t everything, judging by some of the past losses that consisted of gun use.  Fox quickly realizes that the field has been evened up and builds himself a large snow wall, his own fort against enemy attacks.  Then the field is quiet again...

PY: Bowser sticks out his head and is immediately shot!  He winces, pulling his head back in,then realizes that it was not Fox who shot him, but, in fact, Yoshi!  Yoshi disappears quickly back behind the snow mound as several lasers are returned from Bowser that splat into the thick wall of snow.  B: 4   Y: 7    F: 10   DK: 2

CS: Fox waits patiently, checks his watch, then turns at the precise second and pops up over the snow fort, unloading both guns.  DK, who has snuck around the rock to catch Yoshi off guard, is right in the line of fire and is quickly spun around and pelted by the rapid shower of lasers.  He is lucky to have a foot hit the ground, and he high-tails it back to his rock as fast as humanly (or apely) possible, having taken massive damage from Fox.   B: 4   Y: 7    F: 21    DK: 2

PY: Bowser gets an idea suddenly and grabs the trunk of the tree.  Using all his strength, he uproots it, then carries it in front of him, drawing closer and closer to Fox’s fort.  Fox looks up to see a tree he doesn’t remember having been anywhere near him.  He is even more surprised, however, when Bowser suddenly springs out behind it and unloads on Fox at point blank range!  Fox is pummeled with lasers and falls right through the wall of his fort, onto the ground!  He manages to turn on his reflector, however, and several shots reflect back at Bowser, hitting him.  Bowser quickly recognizes that his shots are useless, so he retreats to his tree and sneaks away again to safety, many points richer.    B: 18   Y: 7   F: 21    DK: 2

CS: Donkey Kong, having gathered up some nerve, spins around the rock, then dives back behind it again as Yoshi fires a laser just too late.  It knicks the edge of the stone, chipping away a piece.  Donkey Kong puts down his gun, then grabs the boulder and LIFTS IT INTO THE AIR!  Whoa...can’t say that I’ve ever seen THAT before...  Donkey throws the boulder and Yoshi, who is hiding behind his snow mound, doesn’t realize until too late that he’s in trouble.  The snow wall that he has found so safe is suddenly crashing down on top of him and a boulder runs him right over!  His gun cracks under the boulder’s weight, unusable!    B: 18   Y: 7   F: 21   DK: 5

PY: Yoshi angrily grabs a snow ball and hurls it at DK, who steps aside.  The snow ball misses and goes right inside a hole in the tree Bowser is using for cover.  Seconds later, it comes out the other side and splats right in the Koopa’s face, making him wail in agony and stumble around blindly, shooting everywhere.  Fox springs up and attacks his blinded foe, taking a few shots but delivering double what he receives.  Bowser drops his gun in his carelessness and accidentally steps on it, crushing it.  Two of the fighters are now once again weaponless.  Does it ever amaze you, Smee, how fast we go through weapons for these guys?
B: 18   Y: 8   F: 27   DK: 6

CS: It does, Pirate, it does.  One of the fans rooting on DK tosses him a heavy-duty laser rifle, complete with sniping scope and plasma grenades!  Now where would he have gotten one of those from...?  Donkey, stupified, drops the puny blaster we armed him with in the snow, then grabs up the laser rifle and holds it under his arm.  He peeks around the corner, seeing Bowser tussling with Fox, and quickly unloads on them, firing shot upon shot of the heavy-duty laser ammo!  Bowser is blasted with one shot and goes sailing into the snow.  Fox turns and takes another himself in the side; he, too, falls down in the snow.
B: 18   Y: 8   F: 27    DK: 8

PY: Time is ticking down, yet we really haven’t seen much injury to anyone....oh, wait!  What’s this?  It appears that Fox is having troubles getting up!  Could he be out of it?

CS: Shy Guy blows the whistle, runs on the field, then examines Fox over.  We’re waiting for a call...there it is!  It appears Fox has twisted hi ankle and is done!

PY: You mean, he’s out of it?!  In the lead?

CS: Well, out of this half, I mean.

PY: Oh.

CS: Fox is helped off of the field to go have his ankle treated, then Shy Guy blows the whistle and the fight continues!  Yoshi slips around the corner to see what DK is up to and is instantly blasted in the face with a laser!  He stumbles back behind the snow mound, which is now mostly a boulder sitting on top of what was once a snow mound, then hurls an egg over the stone barrier.  It spirals in the air and bursts open right on DK’s head, toppling the Kong!   B: 18   Y: 9   F: 27   DK: 9

PY: There’s only seconds left in the half!  Donkey Kong comes running across the snow, blasting away with his laser rifle!  Bowser is blasted repeatedly by it and is knocked right off of his big, ugly feet!  Yoshi sprints across the frozen terrain as fast as his feet can carry him, with a trail of lasers burning into the snow just behind his steps–if he trips or slows down, he’s done for!  Unfortunately, he realizes that he’s running right into a dead end, where the path comes to a stop at the foot of an overhanging cliff above!  Not stopping, Yoshi leaps and slurps upwards, catching the ledge with his tongue and pulling himself up quickly!  And not a moment too soon, as DK’s lasers blast right under him and fry large holes in the side of the cliff.  Yoshi dives to the ground as several lasers ricochet off of the underside of the cliff, and the whistle blows!   Halftime!   B: 18   Y: 10   F: 27   DK: 12

CS: Wow, what a match!  I’m surprised everybody is holding up as well as they are!  Bomber Link will have a real good time with this one, I imagine...

**********

PY: That’s right, folks, we’ll be beginning the second half in just a few minutes, but, first, a half-time report with Bomber Link!  I’m here in Bomber Link’s nice, warm, fancy, cushy....err, sorry, studio.  Been a while, eh, chum?  Uh...helloooo?  Anybody in?  It seems Bomber Link isn't around...so I'll RAID HIS PRIVATE REFRIDGERATOR!  GAH-HA-HAAA!

**********

CS: Welcome back to our battle here, folks, and I can say truthfully that we’ll be seeing a lot more action before this one is over with.  I’m down here on this snowy field right now with Yoshi, our mascot.  First of all, Yoshi, just why is it that you’re losing?

Yoshi: I’m having a bit of troubles getting multiple hits off at once.  As you can see, the other three have gotten some really nice rapid hits on each other.  I can’t shoot guns very well...

CS: As we’ve noticed.  So what do you plan to do in order to pull out a victory in the second half?

Yoshi: Eggs are like bullets, except slower; I can also actually cause some damage with them, unlike a gun, so I’ll probably start using eggs a lot more.  Also, I have a shell to use, and I’m going to start putting it to my advantage and block some hits.  Lastly, if any items drop out-

CS: Which I’m sure will!

Yoshi: -they’re gonna be mine!

CS: Great, great.  Good luck, then, cause it’s time to go back up to our booth and watch the end play out!  Back to you Pirate!

PY: Shy Guy blows the whistle, and off we go!  Fox unloads with his double blasters, but the others have gotten wiser and have dashed for cover immediately.  Surprisingly, of all Fox’s shots, not a single one connects!   B: 18   Y: 10   F: 27   DK: 12

CS: Yoshi, safe behind a tree trunk, makes good of his words and skillfully launches an egg up and over.  It hurtles through the air, without any attention drawn towards it, then it bursts open just over Fox’s head, knocking him back with the blast!  Good hit!   B: 18   Y: 11   F: 27   DK: 12

PY: Bowser leaps out from behind the snow bank he is hiding behind, hoping to roast Fox while he is a goner, but DK quickly drops on Bowser from above and pounds him down with a huge, knuckled fist!  Ouch!  Bowser drops to the ground and is dazed! B: 18   Y: 11   F: 27   DK: 13

CS: The question is.........can Bowser get back up?  If not, then the ref will have to call it a KO, and Donkey Kong will receive four extra points, which will really boost his chances of winning!  We’re waiting for a call from Shy Guy............but none has come yet..........

PY: Yoshi, Fox, and DK are just standing around Bowser, waiting for Shy Guy to call him out.  But it would appear that Shy Guy doesn’t plan on doing that any time soon.  So YOSHI SMACKS BOWSER WITH HIS TAIL!  Bowser ceases to get up, so he tries again.  Still no success....  B: 18   Y: 13    F: 27   DK: 13

CS: It would appear that Yoshi’s tactics are well-liked, so the other two start getting in on the fun.  Fox begins rapidly kicking Bowser, building up several hits, while DK launches a bare-knuckle assault on the poor Koopa King!  Yoshi leaps into the air and performs his flutter jump drill kick, scoring LOTS of hits at once!  Yet Shy Guy makes no call, and Bowser does not get up.
B: 18   Y: 25   F: 33   DK: 18

PY: At last, Shy Guy blows the whistle.........took him long enough!  Oh, but what’s this?  WHAT’S HE CALLING?!

CS: He’s calling a penalty.......ON FOX, YOSHI, AND DONKEY KONG.........FOR REPEATEDLY ATTACKING A DOWNED FIGHTER!!!   WHAT KIND OF CALL IS THAT?!

PY: Apparently, a Shy Guy one.  The penalty, he goes on, is that Bowser automatically wins the match!  I would step in, Smee, but I think our boys down there have got this one wrapped up......

CS: Without warning, Yoshi smacks Shy Guy in the face with his tail.  Fox kicks him in the stomach, crumpling him, then DK finishes him off with an over-head punch that lays the hooded fiend out on the ground.  I smell..........KO POINTS!
B: 18   Y: 26   F: 34    DK: 23

PY: Seeing as there’s no referee, we’re going to call Bowser out ourselves so we can continue the match.  The fighters have put their guards up again and are ready to end this battle!  The bell rings and the combat resumes!

CS: Fox fires a laser at Yoshi, but the dino tucks himself into his shell and blocks the hit easily.  Before Fox can fire again, DK slams the ground hard with his palms and Fox and Yoshi both are knocked off their feet by the earthquake waves!  I think it’s safe to say that THEY just got left out in the cold!   Y: 27    F: 34   DK: 25

PY: Yoshi quickly gets back at DK by eating him up in mid-air, then he spits the Kong back out again right at Fox!  Fox dodges aside right in time and DK rolls head-over-heels past him and into a snow bank!  That was chilly........   Y: 28    F: 35   DK: 25

CS: Yeah, but I don’t think that Donkey’ll freeze that easily.  He’s back up and ready for more as he storms up behind Fox, grabs him in his huge hands, and then spikes him into the frozen turf!  OUCH!  If that doesn’t put him on ice, what will?  I think we should throw in something to break up the battle a little!   Y: 28   F: 35   DK: 26

PY: Perhaps.  Here we go!  (Pirate pulls a lever and a Beam Sword drops down) The perfect weapon for such a climatic clash!

CS: No cold reception for the Beam Sword here!  There’s a mad scramble, as there always is, to get the item, and it appears Fox would have it as he shoves DK backwards, then performs a leaping kick that knocks Yoshi backwards!  He grabs the sword, but is suddenly battling against...........YOSHI’S TONGUE FOR IT!   Y: 29   F: 38   DK: 26

PY: Fox grips tightly, but Yoshi’s tongue grips tighter!  Before he knows it, Fox is thrown right over Yoshi, courtesy of Yoshi’s strong tongue, and lands in a snow bank!  Yoshi draws the Beam Sword in to himself, then plucks it off of his tongue and grabs it in his hands!  As Fox gets to his feet, Yoshi turns and slashes Fox hard with the Beam Sword, sending him sailing backwards into the snow again!  Y: 32   F: 38   DK: 26

CS: DK runs in to try and take the sword, but Yoshi quickly slams him in the face with one of his big feet, followed by a harsh slash of the Beam Sword that sends DK spiraling backwards!  He’s going........going........GONE!  DK FLIES OVER THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF AND FALLS DOWN THE OTHER SIDE, OUT OF THE BATTLE!    Y: 38    F: 38   DK: 26

PY: Who knew it would come down to such a fight?!  Fox manages to dive at Yoshi before he is able to turn.  The Beam Sword clatters out of Yoshi’s hands, then rolls to a stop at the edge of the cliffs!  Fox, holding Yoshi in one hand, delivers a hard punch in the other that knocks Yoshi backwards through the snow!  The Beam Sword teeters tentatively, and Fox knows that it is his for the taking!   Y: 38   F: 40

CS: Fox starts to run for the sword, but Yoshi grabs his foot in his tongue and pulls him backwards, tripping Fox effectively!  Fox falls flat on his face, and Yoshi leaps over him to get the sword.  Fox, in desperation, whips out his blaster in lightening speed and fires a direct shot that smacks the Beam Sword over the edge of the cliff and into oblivion!  Yoshi, running too fast to stop, panics and leaps in the air as he sails out over the edge of the cliff!  Using his flutter jump, he veers back inwards towards land and manages to shoot his tongue out just in time to latch unto the side of the cliff, hanging over his doom perilously!    Y: 40   F: 41

PY: Fox dashes up and grabs onto Yoshi’s tongue, then starts to attempt to pry him loose.  Suddenly, things look like suicide for Yoshi as his tongue SLIPS FREE, GRABBING FOX INSTEAD!  The two of them fall downwards.............my gosh, he’s self-destructing, and he’s going to take Fox with him!  Fox attempts to use his Fiery Fox maneuver to escape, but Yoshi’s tongue is holding fast onto him, and he barely gets any boost, still nowhere near the cliff.   Y: 41   F: 41

CS: Wait!  WAIT!  Yoshi is letting Fox go now!  My stars, do you know what he’s doing?!

PY: No, I can’t say I do.

CS: Neither do I!  This is madness!

PY: Yoshi FLUTTER JUMPS upwards towards the cliff–HE HAD A JUMP LEFT STILL!  Fox, on the other hand, HAS USED HIS SPECIAL ATTACK AND HAS NO JUMPS TO USE!  Fox falls to his doom below and Yoshi, at the peak of his jump, zips his tongue out, latching onto the side of the cliff, and pulls himself up to the ledge, where he climbs over the cliff and stands again on firm ground!  THAT’S THE END OF THE MATCH, AND YOSHI WINS!!!   Y: 46   F: 41

CS: Who would have thought that to win, you had to let go of the ledge and drop!   Never have I seen a match end like this one has!  Oh, by the way, to all you concerned viewers out there: we have a special emergency Lakitu squad who has been retreiving fighters who fall from up here.  Fox and DK are both in fine medical condition, minus the bruises and scratches they’ve received from the battle.

PY: What an amazing battle!  But...........................................AMAZING THINGS ARE ALWAYS HAPPENING HERE AT YOSHI STADIUM!  What can I say, it’s a catchphrase?  Anyways, join us next time when we witness a fight that’s IN THE PINK, when Kirby, Peach, Zelda, and Dixie Kong compete to prove who’s the toughest, pinkest gladiator of them all!  To say the least, things should be.......amusing!  On behalf of today’s Yoshi Stadium battle, thank you and good night!

CS: Man, what was up with all the bad puns today?

PY: I have no idea.  They just kept coming.

CS: I know, I was about ready to throw up out there!

PY: WHEN WILL THESE AWFUL PUNS CEASE?!

CS: Probably when you-know-where freezes over.

PY: Ack!  ANOTHER ONE!
Battle 10: Animal Cross-off!
