The Legend of Zelda:
    The Minish Cap
Yea…so the Legend of Zelda…Do these guys know how to fail? I mean seriously. To come up with a crappy Zelda game, I’d like to see that. Nintendo and Capcom team up to produce a great game that far exceeded my expectations. I believe I heard that this was a prelude to Four Swords Adventure, after playing this I’m going to have to  find out.

STORYLINE: The Legend of Zelda series always comes up with a great storyline, this one isn’t anything special though. A sorcerer named Vaati wants a “golden mystical force” and will stop at nothing to get it. I’m on the verge of beating this game, and I’ll go out on a limb and say that Vaati is after the Triforce. But that’s just a guess. ;) Anyways, in order to lift the curse placed upon Princess Zelda, Link must set off on an adventure to infuse his blade with the Four Elements to become the legendary “Four Sword.” All along the way he must solve puzzles, collect new weapons/items, and fuse “kinstones” with the local inhabitants of Hyrule. All this sounds like a walk in the park, but I left out one tiny detail, you must frequently shrink down to Picori/Minish size, aided by a rather talkative Cap... 9.6/10

GRAPHICS: Yea, here’s another category that LoZ could start messing up. But it seems they aren’t starting with the Minish Cap. All of the character movements look more realistic and all of the environments are filled with vibrant cartooney colors that immediately reminded me of Wind Waker. But this was better still. The graphics are even greater in my opinion once Link shrinks down to Minish size. Revealing shoes and acorns the size of barns. Everything from exploring dungeons, defeating bosses, and being amongst the world of the Minish, the graphics were fantastic. 9.6/10

MUSIC AND SOUND: Who gets sick of the Legend of Zelda theme? Not me, and neither will you. This game spices up some old familiar themes, brings back some classics, and introduces some new material. I was particularly fond of the Minish Village music. But not only does this game have excellent music, the sound is dead on as well. The small sounds emitted from your pal Ezlo are funny to hear from beginning to end. The sound of Link shrinking never got old, and even if it did, you can skip that little cutscene. All of the noises made by various apparatuses and various characters are fresh and original. This game exceeded in this category in my eyes, or ears, as it were. 9.9/10

CONTROLS: Not really much to say, the controls are almost perfect. My only complaint was that the button used to speak to people wasn’t the A button. On a few occasions I’ve tried speaking to people and accidently unleashed a fairy I had stored in a bottle. I know what you’re thinking, “What kind of idiot keeps a fairy on the A button after you catch one?” Well I sometimes forgot that I had one out. Oh well, my problem not yours. 9.7/10

Tanooki’s Overall Rating: 9.8/10

A very enjoyable game. A great addition to your Legend of Zelda Collection.
