Resident Evil 4
STORY: The President’s daughter has been kidnapped and is currently being held hostage by a cult called Los Illuminados somewhere in Spain. U.S agent Leon S. Kennedy is called in to rescue her. But what he finds is a horror that has consumed an entire village. Everyone there is infected with “Las Plagas” and have been transformed into Ganado: seemingly zombie-like creatures who are under complete control by a man named Lord Saddler. Un-like zombies, the Ganados are more intelligent, using various weapons such as chainsaws and pitchforks in order to be more effective killers. After many trials of will and marksmanship, Leon finally finds where Ashley is being held captive. But he soon discovers that they both have infected with Las Plagas. Now they need to defeat Lord Saddler and try to find the antidote so that they too don’t become slaves to his will. 9.7/10

GRAPHICS: The graphics in this game are, I think, the best I’ve seen on any game that I’ve ever played. Every character has great definition. Leon looks very real as do his movements. The only problem I saw that concerned graphics happened to involve Ganado. While all the different movements they made, from throwing objects to getting shot in the head with the riot gun, looked good, the problem was there were only like 5 basic bodies for certain areas. But I saw this as only a minor problem. RE 4 redeemed itself with outstandingly scary bosses. From “El Gigante” to the lake monster, they were all very well designed. As for the environments, they were also designed with tender care as well. Fire and water effects look totally realistic. The weather outside looks brilliant at certain points throughout the game, such as the night time and fog effects. Inside buildings one can see that the pictures and portraits hanging on the wall are all different. All in all, very impressed here.
9.9/10

MUSIC AND SOUND: Well, the music used throughout the game was scary where it had to be, dramatic when it had to be, so on and so on. Voice acting for the most part was very good. Leon sounds like a half tough, half smarta$$. Ashley sounds convincingly scared and thoughtful throughout the game. All of the different weapons sound realistic, right down to loading the weapons. I could go down a short list of well dones, but let me get down to what really bugged me: the Ganado. Very few lines were used express their anger and pain. And as any gamer will tell you, hearing the same line from an enemy over and over can and will drive you to insanity. I’d type a few of the heavily repeated lines here, but I don’t understand Spanish and I could very well be saying something very rude.
8.0 /10

CONTROLS: Virtually flawless. After a few hours of playing and getting used to shooting, picking up stuff, and activating switches, everything begins to come very naturally. With very little planning, it becomes easy to dispatch a small group of Ganado with your shotgun, reload, waste another group, switch to your pistol, cap the last one in the knee and then supplex him and effectively smashing his head and its contents all over the ground. I have no qualms in this area, this new setup was a vast improvement over the old Resident Evil games.
10/10

MULTIPLAYER: None.

I was hesitant for a long time on whether or not I should buy this, having been quite horrible at Resident Evil 0. But I’m glad I took the chance of purchasing this game, which is now one of the best games I own.
