| PY: Hi, everyone, and welcome back to another exciting Yoshi Stadium battle, and the second Special Edition battle we've had in honor of the Twelve Days of Christmas! Our fighters today will have a quite different challenge ahead of themselves: a battle to the death with The Sugar Plum Fairy, who will be played today by Navi. The idea is simple: three fighters (Mario, Link, and Donkey Kong) will combat a mega-sized Navi, to keep things even. The first side to wipe out the other wins. As usual, Slow Joe Crow is down on the field with one of our fighters! Down to you, Joe! SC: Thanks, Pirate, and welcome to Yoshi Stadium, everybody, where the match is approaching its start. Today, and I'm going to have brief chat with Donkey Kong, who is not been recognized very much at all this year. Hi, DK. DK: Hello. SC: So, Donkey, why is it that you haven't been able to pull out enough wins to gain some acknowledgement? DK: Uh....these guys are tough. SC: How do you plan to improve next year? DK: Uh....get tougher than them. SC: .....I don't think this interview will be very interesting. Back to you, Pirate. PY: Thanks, Crow, and it looks like we're about to start up down there. Everyone's in their places, and the buzzer sounds! Play has began! M: 100% L: 100% DK: 100% Navi: 100% SC: Instantly, Mario and Link run an assault on Navi from opposite sides, but she easily blocks them both with magic, then sends them both soaring backwards with a burst of energy! DK rushes in to score a point, but (as always) is careless about his approach and is fired away with ease. M: 90% L: 90% DK: 93% Navi: 100% PY: Mario leaps back to his feet almost instantly and throws several fireballs at Navi while her back is turned. The flaming orbs smash against her, and she takes her first damage before blocking the final fire balls with magic. Everyone has lost health now, but Navi is still winning. M: 90% L: 90% DK: 93% Navi: 96% SC: Link rushes in with sword drawn, but Navi fires a spell at him. He rolls aside just in time, taking evasive measures, and slashes the giant fairy as he rolls past, further damaging her. She turns to keep focus on Link, and Donkey Kong finally gets to his feet and lands a solid smack on her from behind. Some teamwork is going on down there finally, and if it keeps up, Navi might be out before halftime! M: 90% L: 90% DK: 93% Navi: 86% PY: Navi quickly expels magic outwards, knocking DK onto his back and cutting down Link like a tall weed. Mario jumps into the fray, but Navi easily avoids his leaping upper-cut and smacks him backwards with a spinning attack. Link jumps back to his feet and hurls his boomerang, catching Navi off guard and causing a small bit of extra damage. M: 86% L: 83% DK: 90% Navi: 84% SC: Mario storms back for another attack attempt, but Navi is ahead of him already and slams him backwards through the air once again. This, however, gives Link the chance to get in close and put to use some swordplay, quickly stacking some damage up on Navi. Navi turns and knocks Link away, but DK is quickly on her back again, smacking her with his bare knuckles. She flings him aside with ease, and Mario is now using his spin jump move to build damage up on her while she's occupied with DK. M: 80% L: 77% DK: 87% Navi: 66% PY: Navi finally escapes Mario's attack, then builds and releases a huge wave of magic, blasting into the other three fighters and taking them down with some massive damage! Before any can stand, she's already powering up another attack. Mario, as always, is quick to get back up, but Navi releases the magic wave, and it hits the portly plumber immediately, knocking him right back down again. M: 60% L: 67% DK: 77% Navi: 66% SC: Link stands, but sees Navi charging another attack and quickly ducks down on the ground. DK is oblivious to the oncoming attack and stands up just as Navi releases the wave, bowling him over like a sack of potatoes! Link stands back up, now with his bow drawn, and fires away several arrows at Navi, preventing her from building magic every time his arrows hit. However, Mario is much slower to getting back up this time, and DK is busy taking his time down there; as a result, Navi finally pulls some offense of her own and deflects the arrows right back at Link, hitting him with several. M: 60% L: 63% DK: 67% Navi: 60% PY: Link puts up his shield and blocks the remaining arrows, then retreats backwards to regroup a little. Mario staggers back up, wheezing, and quickly talks stratagey with Link, as DK remains on the ground resting. Navi charges up another powerful attack, but keeps it and awaits a good chance to use it. Link and Mario seem to have a plan now and are advancing carefully once again. Mario scampers towards Navi quickly, throwing fireballs like crazy and moving swiftly to ensure he's a hard target to hit. Navi fires smaller shots, still saving up her big one, but as the plumber runs within feet of her, she fires it off at point blank range. Mario slides under the shot, and Link, finding the perfect opportunity, fires a Light Arrow he has loaded into his bow. The arrow hits Navi dead center, and she takes some serious damage! M: 60% L: 63% DK: 67% Navi: 50% SC: Navi quickly realizes that she's taken the bait (Mario) and been burned on it, and quickly smacks away Mario and uses her magic to block another Light Arrow, just in time. The arrow bounces off and hits Link before he can move, knocking him to the ground. DK is finally back on his feet, but is once again trying to take Navi on head-first; one quick motion, and Navi has sent DK spiraling backwards into the ground again. M: 55% L: 50% DK: 64% Navi: 50% PY: The half is about over, and the threesome is working furiously to try and build an advantage up, but Navi won't allow it. She's firing magic everywhere, and many of the shots are finding targets! Link is hit by one as he tries to advance with sword drawn; Mario leaps at Navi but takes one in the chest and falls backwards to the ground again. From the ground, Link lights a bomb and rolls it across the ground towards Navi, where it blows up and causes damage. M: 50% L: 45% DK: 64% Navi: 44% SC: Only seconds remain, and Link rolls aside back to his feet just as a magic beam scorches the ground beside him. He pulls out his sword and throws it at Navi, who is busy fighting Mario off. The sword hits and it looks as if the trio has gotten the last laugh of the half! Time expires, and it seems so has Navi's patience! Both sides retreat off the field for halftime, and the health percentages are Mario with 50%, Link with 45%, DK with 64%, and Navi with 36%. PY: Since BL is still busy with special material, we're going to be instead checking in on our threesome team during halftime, to see what they're talking about. Join us for a quick look at what they're talking about right now! ********** PY: Okay, welcome to halftime, and we're currently in the locker room with Link, Mario, and Donkey Kong. We've got the microphones set up, but we're trying to keep them from being distracted by us. The voices you next hea-......er.....read will be theirs. Link: Okay, guys, we're doing really bad out there. DK: Really? I thought we were doing okay... Mario: Yeah. We ARE-a winning, after all. Link: Yeah, but by how much? We should be dominating! I mean, c'mon! She's a stinkin FAIRY! DK: Yeah, but a really BIG fairy.... Link: Donkey, just shut up. You aren't doing anything out there! DK: What? I've been helping out... Link: Yeah, at the turn of the hour! It takes you like fifteen minutes just to stand back up after you get hit! DK: Hey, shut up! I take some pretty hard hits, you know--probably harder than either of YOU guys have taken... Mario: Yeah, mostly to-a your head.... Link: Whenever Mario or I get hit, we just stand back up. We can't fight Navi off alone, you know. DK: I know I know! I was there helping! So sue me if I don't leap up right away--I saw Mario get hit after jumping back up once! Mario: Yeah, well, that-a was a fluke... Link: We gotta pull ourselves together--at this rate, we'll end up losing to a fairy! Mario: How-a embarrassing.... DK: Just relaxe, you guys worry too much. We've got this in the bag! All we have to do is....uh....the same as we did last half... Link: Yeah, but Navi's probably changing her stratagey to NOT do the same as SHE did that half... PY: Well, everyone, that's the word from the locker room! Thanks for joining us for halftime, and see you back here in a moment for the second half! ********** PY: Welcome back, everyone, for the second half of this spectacular match! It's been a real wild one, but Slow Joe Crow has calmed down the Three-man leader, Link, enough to get an interview out of him. Down to you, Crow. SC: Hi, Pirate, and good to chat with you, Link. Link: Thanks, Joe. SC: You sounded pretty intense in the locker room. Link: Yeah, I was a bit cheesed off..... SC: Really? I never noticed.... What about? Link: I had a few choice words for Donkey Kong. He's completely lazy! It's not wonder he hasn't won anything yet! SC: Do you think your talk might inspire him to work a bit harder this half? Link: I hope so, because if it didn't, we might not be the ones talking at the end of this match! SC: Well, good luck to you. Back to you, Pirate. PY: The second half is ready to begin, and the buzzer sounds! Apparently, DK has been a bit inspired by the halftime conversation, because he rushes in before even Mario and takes a few good shots at Navi. She takes the first punch, but blocks the others and throws DK away quickly. M: 50% L: 45% DK: 60% Navi: 32% SC: Link has his sword out, but Navi wants nothing to do with it and quickly uses a strong blast of magic to knock the Hylian away. Mario tries to get in close enough to use his fireballs, but Navi won't even allow that. She quickly retreats backwards out of range, then fires a blast of magic back that nearly wipes the plumber out. M: 50% L: 37% DK: 60% Navi: 32% PY: DK tries again to prove that he is NOT lazy, but rushing in quickly is no good unless you can do it with some plans already made. DK is suddenly pulled into the air by a mystical force, hovering in front of Navi, then fired backwards like a rocket, where he smashes into Mario, who is desperately trying to run for cover. Suddenly, the trio isn't looking so hot... M: 44% L: 37% DK: 50% Navi: 32% SC: Link is back on his feet and pulls out the Ice Rod, firing several freezing blasts at Navi. Navi uses magic to deflect the blasts back, and one hits Mario, freezing him to the ground! Uh-oh....Link's going to get a tongue-lashing about that one. M: 40% L: 37% DK: 50% Navi: 32% PY: I don't think so...because one of those blasts hit HIM, too! DK is the only fighter of the three who isn't in need of thawing, but he's still lying on the ground from that last hit. This time, he has a reasonable excuse, though--that last hit was a doozy... M: 40% L: 32% DK: 50% Navi: 32% SC: Navi takes no mercy on the group, and quickly attacks DK, who is bombarded with magic and hurled backwards further and further with each blast. As Navi mercelessly attacks the ape, however, Mario suddenly shatters the ice he is trapped in with a fireball and runs to DK's aid. He leaps into the air and brings down a heavy fist on Navi, smacking her hard and breaking her attention away from the helpless Donkey Kong. M: 40% L: 32% DK: 30% Navi: 26% PY: Link finally shatters free, but his work is already cut out for him: DK is still not on his feet, and now Mario is being pummeled by Navi, barely avoiding most of the spells. Link chooses a new weapon carefully--the Megaton Hammer--and quickly lunges at Navi with the heavy weapon. He bashes her with it, causing significant damage, but Navi counters with a blazing magical attack that hits both Mario and Link at once, knocking them off their feet. Navi quickly takes the Megaton Hammer herself, then fires it like a rocket at Link, who rolls aside just in time to avoid it! M: 25% L: 26% DK: 30% Navi: 20% SC: DK wobbles back to his feet, and Link gets up as well. Navi aims another magic attack and fires at Link, but the Hero of Time suddenly changes shields at the last minute and uses his MIRROR SHIELD to deflect the attack back, hitting Navi with her own magic and causing some damage! Navi seems stunned--this is the chance the trio needed! M: 25% L: 26% DK: 30% Navi: 10% PY: Link gets a stab--and that's it. Navi strikes back suddenly and without warning, launching Link backwards across the arena! Link goes down, panting, and DK quickly backs away, cancelling any attack plans he was formulating. Mario is on his feet and throwing fireballs, but Navi simply dodges them all, then returns fire, catching Mario with a light magic blast. M: 20% L: 16% DK: 30% Navi: 10% SC: DK sees his chance and closes in for some short-range fighting--and Navi turns suddenly and scorches him with an instantaneous fire attack! DK yelps in pain, and scampers away, trying to extinguish his roasting body. Mario seems unsure as of what to do--close range attacks are obviously not fairing well, but long range attacks--particularly his fireballs--are doing absolutely nothing. Feeling risky, he chances it, rolling around to Navi's backside and striking--and is hit in the face with a magic wave before his fist can connect. Mario topples head over heels backwards before rolling to a stop. M: 10% L: 16% DK: 15% Navi: 10% PY: Talk about a close finish! Navi's definately changed her stratagies this half! Link stands again and fires an arrow, which somehow escapes Navi's attention and hit her! Navi takes some damage, and DK, finally cooled off, goes back in again, but more carefully. It doesn't matter, however. Navi weaves away quickly, then fires an electrical beam that zaps DK and sends him rolling backwards for cover. Link strings another arrow, but Navi catches wind of the attack and quickly reverses the arrow in the air, turning it back on Link and causing him to take the hit instead. M: 10% L: 10% DK: 5% Navi: 10% SC: It doesn't get much more even than this! Navi sees her chance to finish DK and does so...but not without taking some penalty for her actions. As she fires the finishing beam at DK, Mario leaps up and delivers a hit of his own, pounding down Navi's HP just a bit more. He quickly rolls aside before Navi can return the blow, and it's down to two versus one... M: 10% L: 10% DK: 0% Navi: 6% PY: I smell a double-team, and Link and Mario cautiously approach Navi from either side once again, fully aware that an attack could come at any moment and force them to dive for cover. Just as they close in, Navi hovers up above them in the air, then fires straight downwards. Link holds up his mirror shield and deflects the magic away; Mario, however, has no choice but to run for cover, and he doesn't make it. The magic hunts him out before he can get away, and he goes down. One fairy against one fairy boy... M: 0% L: 10% DK: 0% Navi: 6% SC: Link is definately ticked off right now, I'm sure--this is exactly what he feared would happen, and he called it exactly right; Navi changed her plans entirely, and it left his commrades rather confused. Now, it's all on his shoulders to defeat Navi. Fortunately for him, he's got the right tools, armed with his Mirror Shield and Master Sword. He backs away as Navi decends again, both ready for battle. PY: Link goes for a quick KO and pulls out all the stops--he fires an arrow, then flings his boomerang. As Navi dodges these attacks, Link quickly draws a bomb and hurls it at her! Navi spies the bomb just as it dentonates, and the bomb, while exploding, is hurled back at Link! Link dives behind his shield, but the bomb blast is too large, and Link goes down. Navi has won the battle! M: 0% L: 0% DK: 0% Navi: 6% SC: Wow, who would've guessed! It was one versus three, and the army of one, so to speak, came out victorious! Not a sight you see every day... PY: Nope, it isn't, and neither is THIS site, Yoshi Stadium! Which reminds me to deliver our cheesey catch-phrase: amazing things are always happening at Yoshi Stadium!
