STORYLINE: Wario has just stolen two Gameboy Advances and seems pretty elated about this. He walks down the street, clutching his spoils in his hands when he trips and falls and his prizes roll into a manhole. Up pops a gentle old man who asks Wario if he dropped the two systems into the hole, or if he dropped the nice new shiny Nintendo DS. The ever polite and thoughtful Wario replies “Gimme all of them.” After a quick shuffle with the man, Wario emerges from the manhole with the DS. After playing around with the DS and discovering the stylus, Wario proclaims that this now found piece of game equipment “isn’t lame!” And with double the screens, that can only mean that Wario will get double the money! 4/10
GRAPHICS: In all sincerity, the new warning that Nintendo puts at the beginning of each game about epilepsies and seizures does apply to this game. With so many bright colors and flashing screens, this game can make you seize up and still keep you coming back for more! The graphics are simple, but I suppose when a player is viewing a screen for only 3 to 5 seconds at a time, a grand display isn’t really needed. But when it’s all put together, everything works out quite well. 8.0/10
MUSIC AND SOUND: The music was very well thought out, it was as wacky as anyone expected from a WarioWare game. I was actually fond of “Ashley’s Theme” from Ashley’s Total Drag section as well as Mike’s loading screen where he raps out to his aline fans. Each section had great music that worked very well. Now when it comes to sound, these mini games are full of them. From playing the piano to chopping fruit, from helping someone escape from prison to throwing a ninja star to defeat another ninja, everything is fun to listen to. 9.0/10
CONTROLS: The controls are nearly perfect. The more accurately you can wield your stylus, the better your results will be. Plus I found it interesting that WarioWare Touched! took advantage of all the different motions of the stylus. Mona’s games are all about cutting various things. Like I mentioned above, Ashley’s games are all about dragging items. Jimmy T. is all about rubbin’. So on and so forth. Now I said earlier that the controls are nearly perfect. I would have given this section of the review a better score if it weren’t for Mike’s games which, you guessed it, uses the DS microphone. In order to play these games, you have to get pretty close to your DS’s microphone, and if you think about it, your eyes are therefore pretty close to the screen. This made me real dizzy and I had a hard time getting threw these games. Especially the boss game which is longer then the other mini-games. I could honestly be the only one that has this problem, but as this is my review, its getting marked down for this flaw. 8.5/10
MULTIPLAYER: None.
Tanooki’s Overall Rating: 9.0/10
I’m not gonna knock down the overall score just because the story was lame and the graphics weren’t top notch. For a game like this, they're not needed in order to make it fun and enjoyable. |
