At the ELI Halloween Party, our teacher, George disguised himself as a ghost and frightened us. |
- Teacher: George Plautz
- Purposes: To practice listening and note-taking, to improve oral proficiency and reading and writing for academic purposes, and to gain some experience with attending the real university class
- Contents: We studied about some special topics which are rich in variety in depth. For example, we talked about "Folk objects," "Marketing," and "Wind" in our class. Each of them had some complicated readings and video lectures, and made me mad. I believe this class was very useful for the people who want to enter the university. But actually, it was too academic for me to listen or read such kind of complicated contents. Specially, I felt keenly lacking skill when we had to speak about abstract things in English. However, this class was so high level that I could gain very valuable experience.

At the ELI Halloween Party. The center is our teacher, Ron. |
- Teacher: Ron Davison
- Purposes: To improve my spoken English in academic situations and in real life situations
- Contents: This class does not have any tough homework and any writing (essay) or reading subjects. However, I was under a lot of pressure because no preparation made me so nervous during the class. In addition, I did not like talking too much in the class, although I like to learn something related to English. It seems that this was the very class for me which had impromptu speeches, making stories, explaining materials and our own opinions, and presentation, almost my weak points in this manner. During this session, this class had almost twenty students. It is getting more and more difficult for me to open my mouth in this kind of class, as the number increases. However, it seems that my complex about speech in the presence of other students has diminished a little thanks to this class.
