This is one of those WOW costumes. The moment I saw it I fell in love with it and knew I really wanted to make it. I found the perfect boots at Savers for a few bucks and the fabrics I got for really cheap at Denver Fabrics. The most expensive parts were the 50 buttons that I bought and the gold bias tape that was used for the side decorations. This was the costume I discovered gold colored thread instead of the metalic thread I had been using which usually breaks every two inches. It was a complete godsend and allowed me to make the dress with little hassel. This dress is lined, because otherwise it would show underneath where I had sewn all the little black buttons and where the bias binding was which in the pictures it doesn't show at all. I made the arm bands out of a black fake leather which I had gotten for $1 a yard at Walmart. They are dubble sidded with 2 layers of interfacing inbetween and the edges are zig zagged around. These were by far the biggest pain to make. But it all turned out ok. |
