JUNE MEETING

The June Meeting was held at Cactus Grille in Lake Jackson, with 28 members, and 2 guests and 1 teen in attendance.  With summertime here people are out and about, please make time to attend if you can!

 

JULY MEETING

The next meeting will be held again at Cactus Grille in Lake Jackson on Thursday, July 11th, at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner will precede the meeting as usual. A vote was taken to change the July date due to the holiday.  Lon Glenn made a motion and Roy Mickens, seconded.  Vote unanimously passed. Also note, the 11th just happens to be Marji’s B’day!

 

BUSINESS MEETING NEWS

Danny Coppedge-President reported on June Birthday’s, Anniversaries and Sick members.  Wayland Gray’s wife Sara is in Methodist Hospital with kidney by-pass surgery.  Please keep the Gray’s in your prayers.  Also, Marji Fipps will have 2 toes removed at the end of the month, prayers for a speedy recovery Marji! 

Danny then spoke about a road trip for the Car Club members. Members will be checking into Cruise nights in Houston as a possible function for members to attend as a group.  If any member has an idea please contact Danny.

Under New Business: On Saturday, June 15th the car club is encouraged to go to the Lake Theater.  Country Western is the theme and all members who drive their classic cars will be admitted free.  You will have to purchase a ticket for all spouses and guests.  Tell Linda at the Theater that you’re a BCCC member.

Marji Fipps- Treasurer reported that the new checking account had been established for the Valentine’s Car Fest.  She addressed any questions.  Marji then requested that the club’s fiscal year end be changed.  She stated that moving the year-end to March 31st would allow all of the monies to be reconciled after the Car Show.  Larry Piwonka made a motion to accept the change from December 31st to March 31st.  It was seconded by Rik King and James Fipps.  It passed unanimously by the members present.

Denise Piwonka-Secretary spoke briefly about members receiving newsletters and some unidentified e:mail addresses.

Ken Countryman-Vice President/Activities Director was not at the meeting; Marji Fipps presented his report:

2003 Valentine’s Car Fest

Committee Update

Earl Leonard provided an update on the 2003 Car Show.  Earl asked that the BCCC vote and approve the changes made to the Valentine Car Fest By-laws.  Ronnie Ponder made a motion, with 2nd by Tim Salaika, motion passed.   The next item was the charity that will receive the proceeds from the car show.  The Brazoria County Woman’s Center was nominated.  Marji Fipps made a motion, with 2nd by Tim Salaika, motion passed.  The next item contained 3 issues. The motion was made by Denise Piwonka on the following: The $500 raffle will be for only those participants that pre-register for show, The selling of 1,000 tickets for the 48” High Density Television, and The $100 for the club with the most participants, seconded by Stanley Singer, motion passed.  The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, July 23rd, 7 pm at Rik King’s Shop.

Rik & Nell King are in charge of the logo.  They asked for a nomination and vote for the vehicles to be placed on the 2003 T-shirt, discussion ensued.  A motion was made by James Fipps to nominate Tim & Peggy Salaika’s ’63 Corvette, Ken & Melanie Countryman’s ’54 Mercury and Roy & Billie Mickens ’41 Chevy truck.  Seconded, by Stanley Singer, motion passed.  Congrats to those members on the 2003 shirt! 

Earl spoke about Judging and noted that Tim Salaika was designing a new judging sheet, 45 trophies will be given out, and discussion ensued.

Larry Piwonka is having success with the sponsors.  Earl asked everyone to help out and give Larry a call with any leads for sponsorship, only $200 gets your business on the T-shirt! Twelve sponsors have been slated so far, more to come.
