Song of the Day:
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

It's no secret that I tend to make up words.  Usually when I forget what the proper word should be.  I almost always immediately realize the error, but sometimes - like today - I have no clue.

I once used the non-word "observative" because I couldn't remember "observant."

Today, I used "analyzation" and was surprised when Big Cheese (who is back from vaca!) asked, "do you mean analysis?"

Um, yes.

Song of the Day:
Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's
updated: here's the
video of the song

I love music.  So much so that I probably should've been a dj.  I love to get onto itunes, find songs and put them in my shopping basket.  I don't buy them. I just visit them.  Every now and then you can find me sitting in front of my computer dancing or singing along to a 30 second clip of a "favorite" song.  I currently have 242 "favorite" songs in my shopping basket.  Once in a while, during one of my visits, I'll decide that "no, this song isn't for me" and will delete it only to add five more "awesome" songs.

Sometimes a song will grab me and refuses to let go.  Currently it's today's song of the day.  The 30 second clip doesn't do the song justice, but you can at least get a hit of the melody.

hey there delilah
what's it like in new york city
i'm a thousand miles away
but girl tonight you look so pretty
yes you do
times square can't shine as bright as you
i swear it's true

hey there delilah
don't worry about the distance
i'm right there if you get lonely
give this song another listen
close your eyese
listen to my voice it's my disguise
i'm by your side

oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
what you do to me
hey there delilah
i know times are getting hard
but just believe me girl
someday i'll pay the bills with this guitar
we'll have it good
we'll have the life we knew we would
my word is good

hey there delilah
i've got so much left to say
if every simple song i wrote to you
would take your breath away
i'd write it all
even more in love with me you'd fall
we'd have it all

oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
what you do to me
a thousand miles seems pretty far
but they've got planes and trains and cars
i'd walk to you if i had no other way
our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along becauase we know
that none of them have felt this way
delilah i can promise you
that by the time that we get through
the world will never be the same
and you're to blame

hey there delilah
you be good and don't you miss me
two more years and you'll be done with school
and i'll be making history like i do
you konw it's all because of you
we can do whatever we want to
hey there delilah here's to you
this one's for you

oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
oh, it's what you do to me
what you do to me

Song of the Day:
Maybe Sparrow by Neko Case

Did you know our company only has a $200 wellness coverage (for the PPO, that is). [Aside, I hate HMOs, so I will not sign up for ours..which typically covers more.]  So, if you are a woman you cannot have both a pap smear and a mammogram in the same year.  But what about the deductible, you say? Wouldn't part of that be covered, at least partially? Sadly, no.  The way they have written our PPO policy is that anything over the $200 wellness is 100% paid for by the EMPLOYEE. So, the $500+ for the mammogram?  All paid by the woman.  I refuse to switch to an HMO. In fact, one of my worries is that if I quit my job and get on B's policy, I will be on an HMO.  I still blame Kaiser for almost killing B's mom a few years ago.  Sure, they probably aren't to balme...but I do.  (however:  our company was unaware of this situation...we'll see if they actually change things...)

I am thankful, however, to have healthcare coverage.  There are millions without it.  Especially in this country where socialites get paid to just show up at parties...you'd think we'd be able to take care of our citizens.
Sigh.

Also, while I have no acutal proof, I believe a bird stole my suet feeder.  It's missing.  Some bird, somewhere owes me $1.99.

update:  I just found out our company might be switching to only Kaiser...I'm trying to contain my excitement.

Song of the Day:
Window in the Skies by U2

~ I have been very grumpy the last few day.  The kind of grumpy where I want you to keep your mouth shut, leave me alone yet cuddle me at the same time.  I'll be over this in a day or so.  Until then...
~ I have vowed to spend the majority of my day actually working.  I'm still laughing...
~ I figured out a strong positive of my job.  I get away with "murder" here.
~ I'm currently going through an anti-media phase.  I'm really sick of our news media.  It (and the government) perpetuates nothing but fear while ignoring more imporant (and equally horrific news).  How many US soliders and Iraqi civilians have died this month?  What's happening in the Sudan?  What about New Orleans?  As a result, I've set my internet homepage to the BBC (International version).  It's fascinating to find out what's really going on in the world. (Obviously, the main story is the massacre at Va Tech.)  Did you know that only 28% of poor people in this world have access to medications for HIV/AIDS? (
Link) We live in one of the richest countries in the world. Why aren't we doing more to help people? Yes, it is our job. It is our morale responsibility.
~ I'm also really sick of rich people.  Maybe I'm just jealous.  I'd like to think that if I were obscenly wealthy that I would put the money to good use.  Would I?
~ I bought a pregnancy test on Sunday only to start my period an hour later.  Of course...
~ I need a vacation. Oh, wait...
