09 January 2007 ~ Tuesday

Song of the Day:
Summer Lovin' from Grease

An employee from our HQ came into the office wearing a fur coat.

Seriously. WTF?  Stupid c*nt.

Speaking of insufferable twats:  George W.

We're supposed to get snow tomorrow.  Like all things around here, I'll believe it when I see it.

Big Cheese filed a formal complaint against our boss.  Formal complaint is rather laughable since we don't have an HR department. Plus, this whole firm is all talk and no action.  They took her seriously this time.  Only because she got one of the (male) employees to back her up.  Old boys' club at work, ladies and gentlemen.  I bet you thought it no longer existed.  Legally, this isn't considered a hostile work environment because he's not targeting anyone because of race, gender, etc.  He's an equal opportunity asshole.  Pimp Daddy gave his notice.  Kudos to him. I've been looking for something with equal pay to what I'm making now.  People don't pay for anything out there.  In summary, same story on a different day.  You could pretty much skip over this entire paragraph.

That's been "the drama" in the workplace lately...in a nutshell.  All the more reason to give my notice on Thursday after Big Cheese and I win the Powerball Jackpot.  I will not be able to give you a lot of money (considering taxes & cash option...I have too much family and a few friends to give everyone lots of money....I'd prefer to take care of everyone...yes, even you.) but you'll have a really nice birthday/Christmas. Be thinking of what you would do for yourself if money weren't an option because I'm going to ask.

I'm going to also have to decide between three friends who gets to build my dream home.  It will have to be ADA accessible, though, so B and I can move his parents in with us.  I don't want anything fancy but I do insist it be sustainable.  B wants a wrought iron fence.  I just want it to be 6 feet and secure.

We have a leak in our roof. Luckily, our ceiling is holding up.  It will be another 2 weeks before the roofer can come out.  Better than an additional month from the other guys.

We had a good visit with B's brother, sister-in-law and 3 nephews.  Ours...not his.  It's quite interesting having 3 teenage boys around.  I'm not used to the whole sibling thing.  It was very enlightening and entertaining.

I'm tired of feeling guilty for hating my job.  Hate? Really?  I'm terrified of ending up like Big P...dead.

I'm already thinking about Spring (potential snow aside) and how I'd like to tear up the front lawn and reseed.  Ha! Manual labor...yeah, right.  My goal this year is to finish getting rid of the bushes (I got rid of 2 1/3 large ones last year...have 4 2/3 left) and to plant some type of all season border in the front yard.  Ideally...I'd just get rid of the bushes and redo the lawn.  The Powerball jackpot sure would be nice....then I could have someone else do it all.

Oh yeah! I'm doing something I've never done before but I can't tell you what it is.  It might be for you. He he!  I hope it (potentially they)  turns out.  I'll post photos later.

Hugs and Kisses,
M
10 January 2007 ~ Wednesday

I had a dream last night that I had pulled a quantum leap into the body of a teenage female goalie.  Apparently the Winter Hawks golaies were not able to play so she was called in to tend goal.  Clearly I know nothing about being a goalie. (only scoring goals and I've only done that once and it wasn't during a game with tons of pressure.)  By the time the dream switched stories, the score was 5-2 for the other team.

The next scene, if you will, featured me trying to escape from downtown Portland.  We were being attacked by some unknown enemy.  It was sheer chaos with people trying desperately to make their way home.  As I was escaping my dream switched again. (The tend to do this - my dreams will al run together and be completely different in context from each other.)

The next dream featured me on a boat in a sunny location. (Florida?)  I was with the eldest Plutonian, her husband and B.  Another boat pulled alongside us and I noticed the most brent Plutonian was on that boat with her boyfriend.  I was so excited to see her.  Then I noticed walking alongside our boat (the water had sidewalks - I can't explain it) was a little stray dog.  I picked it up and was in the process of calling its owner when my dream switched again.

The final dream (or at least the final one I can remember) featured me at my grandmother's house back in Kentucky.  I needed to get home so I got into her old (and gigantic) car.  They were paving the end of her street and I was unsure how to get to the main road.  I went back to her house and gave her car keys to my aunt.  I retrieved my own keys (and car). I don't remember anything after that.

At some point during all of those dreams, I was in the mall.  That must have been the nightmare portion of my night.

That, my friends, in one night in my dreams.

Wet, sloppy kisses,

11 January 2006 ~ Thursday

In the beginning, I would tell people "I am going to with the Powerball."  This was my mantra this week until Tuesday when I changed it to "I'm going to win the Powerball jackpot."  I should have used the latter phrase as I did end up winning the Powerball.  I got the Powerball number and won a grand total of $3.  So from now until Saturday, you will only hear me say "I am going to win the $155 million Powerball jackpot on this Saturday, January 13."

In other news, we had a little bit of snow overnight.  It was worse out in the 'burbs than in downtown Portland.  It was an interesting drive to the train station. Not too bad. I had to keep reminding myself not to try to keep up with the person in front of me - who was, like an idiot, driving the speed limit.

12 January 2007 ~ Friday

Ninja strikes again:
This morning I was running late for work. That seems to be a common theme lately and I'm sure it has everything to do with my morale.  As I was walking toward the building, I saw bossman going through the doors.  I had called to let Big Cheese know I was running late, so I wasn't too worried about getting in trouble. (Although I always play out these scenarios in my head in which I start yelling at bossman and telling him what people really think. Then I storm out and into the "arms" of a really cool, work-from-home job.)  As I was walking into the office, past the men's room, I heard the toilet flush and figured it was bossman and he hadn't gone into the office yet. Woohoo! I ran in, threw my stuff on the grown, quickly took of my coat, and acted like I had been here the entire time.  Go me!

File under WTF:
After yelling at me about how I have to work on Monday (MLK day and our monthly off day), bossman comes up to me today and tells me that I don't have to come work on Monday. Huh?  Didn't you just yell at me about how I had to be here so the owner wouldn't get mad about no one answering the damn phone?  You really are insane aren't you?  Bipolar maybe?  Oh well, at least I'm off on Monday.

Finally:
After almost a month, our roof will finally be fixed on Tuesday.  Here's hoping it doesn't cost me all my Powerball winnings.

Bringing sexy back,
M
16 January 2007 ~ Tuesday

Snow Day!  We have about 2 - 3 inches of snow currently and it's still coming down. Even though the MAX is still running, the problem is getting to the station to go to work.  I think I'm going to try to work on the project I can't tell you about because it's probably for you.  Yeah!  Or maybe I'll take a nap.  Or maybe I'll watch a movie.

Also, having put in enough time driving in crappy weather when I was younger and stupid, I'm past that phase. A dusting of snow? I'm sorry, I won't be in for at least a week...

I have put pictures on my flickr account.

23 January 2007 ~ Tuesday

B's mom is in the hospital, so his dad and the dogs are staying with us.

Big Cheese and I were having an IM conversation (since we can't openly talk at the office) and this is what I said (we were talking in general terms, if money/finances weren't an issue):
I'd focus on family, photography, helping people, losing weight, getting knocked up (or adopting). Those are the things I love.  I'd also like to volunteer, quilt, crochet, play video games, watch movies [and] discover new music.

I would really love to broaden my horizons.

Tired kisses,
M
