09 June 2006 ~ Friday Song of the Day: London Calling by (the) Clash I've decided to return to this format until I break down and buy a "real" website. While the format of the Yahoo(!) 360 Blog template was so simple to use, I hate the fact that it lost several of my posts. I'm hoping to re-post the entry about our adventure at the casino, but since I don't have a copy...well, we'll see. Not much has been going on. After 2-1/2 years, I finally received a raise. Thanks to Big Cheese. She pointed out to Bossman that I haven't received any type of pay increase since December 2003. It will help out a bit. I'm hoping to try to start saving some money now. I'm still the lowest paid in the office, but it stands to reason since I'm the lowest on the totem pole.. Brad's brother returns to Germany on Sunday. We're hoping to go visit in a couple of years. It presents the best opportunity for us to visit other countries and will fulfill a dream of mine. -M |
12 June 2006 ~ Monday Song of the Day: Luxurious by Gwen Stefani Dear Uterus, Why must you torture me both mentally and physically? I thought you were nicer than that. I guess I was wrong. Yours in infertility, YP Brad's brother went back home to Deutschland yesterday. It was quite sad to see him go. He was a lot of fun to have around and we look forward to seeing him again. The parade was fun on Saturday. I received one phone call (from Big Cheese) and one text message (from Pony!!M) telling me that I was on TV. Mental Note: Next time sit up straight. This was an interesting article. I immediately came to work to see if others I work with have accounts on Myspace. I should search for SF people! -M |
21 June 2006 ~ Wednesday Song of the Day: Gentleman Who Fell by Milla Why PonyM Rocks, Reason #5,468,999: Four Words: Lemon White Chocolate Cookies Also, she totally puts up with my weirdness. Word. Do you ever have that feeling in the back of your throat and top of your stomach like your going to throw up? Yeah, I'm totally feeling that today. It goes great with sleeping for 7.5 hours only to wake up and feel like I didn't sleep at all. AWESOME!! Do you ever feel like you're too old to put up with this shit? Me too. -M |
26 June 2006 ~ Monday Song of the Day: Jealousy by Natalie Merchant Product Recommendation: Weed Hound Did you know that the five worst cities for allergy sufferers right now are all in Oregon? I could have told you that without reading the article. My allergies have been acting up for the past two days. I might be crawling under my desk to take a nap later since I just took a (single) Benadryl. I think the phones can go unanswered this morning. The hot weather arrived early in Portland. Yesterday it was over 100 and today will be about the same. Tomorrow will be a cool 85. It could be worse, we could have 100% humidity. It gives me a good excuse not to walk the dogs; especially since the hottest part of the day is around 5:00 p.m. I did get up early yesterday to walk the dogs, water the lawn (in an attempt to keep it from completely turning brown) and weed with my new Weed Hound (see today's recommendation). Then...I took a nap. All before noon. What a nice Sunday! Go Beavs! -M |
28 June 2006 ~ Wednesday Song of the Day: Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand Dear Jester, Daddy and I would like to apologize for your new haircut. We weren't trying to save money, but merely wanted to give you some immediate relief from the heat and allergy induced itching. Had we known the outcome of last night's grooming, we certainly would have waited a minimum of two weeks for a professional appointment. Look at it this way, at least we know that neither one of us should ever go into the dog grooming industry. With our sincerest apologies, Mommy & Daddy Our poor dog looks like he has some horrible disease thanks to our final attempt at grooming. We've tried it in the past, but never have we been so unsuccessful. So, if you see him on the street, please don't point and laugh. It's not his fault. I'm just happy that Brad and I both had a hand at destroying what self esteem he had. This way, neither one of us can blame the other. If he could talk, I'm sure he'd be telling me to suck it. I keep trying to remind myself that the embrassment is on my end. All he feels right now is itchy (still!) and a little bit cooler. It's just easier to anthropomorphize my feelings onto him in hopes of decreasing my guilt. Here is a picture of what he looked like before the haircut. This is after. This picture is what a professional haircut looks like. Here is a picture of Precious hiding from us. Also, here is a picture of my spice "rack." I made it back in April and love that how it saves room. We can now have a true junk drawer in our kitchen! The Beavers won the College World Series. They had a rally right down the street from my office at noon yesterday. I avoided that part of the city. It would have been way too many people for me to have to knock out of my way. We watched Nanny McPhee last night. Very cute. -M |
