05 June 2007 ~ Tuesday It was bound to happen. I accidentally saved over May 2006. I should think of another way to save files. Oops. Also, I was in a car accident on Friday. Long story short: I yielded for an emergency vehicle w/lights/sirens on and was rear ended by the person behind me. I'll talk more about this later. -M |
14 June 2007 ~ Thursday Happy Flag Day! So, here are the details of the crash: I had stopped for a police officer who was coming off the highway with his lights/sirens on. A pickup truck came behind me and slammed into me. I don't think he attempted to brake which makes me wonder if he was paying attention. That part is speculation, though. The police officer obviously did not go to his call, or "call," and assisted us. My car, though hit pretty hard, did not suffer too much damage. The other driver's truck was pretty smashed. I'm guessing are okay as they were standing alongside the road. I was very dazed and my neck hurt initially. B ended up taking me to the ER that evening as I ended up vomitting and getting extremely dizzy as the night progressed. I still have the occassional bout of dizziness and pretty much every night my back and/or neck ends up hurting. The paperwork that still continues is a pain the ass. My car has already been in/out of the body shop but has to go back as the insurance adjuster forgot to tell the guy in charge of the repair that the seat track was damaged and is nearly impossible to adjust. This is my favorite picture. With the obvious exception of the clothes hanger on the wall. I'm going to start researching real estate photography. I don't know if it's a feasible job solution but I do know that the photography that the real estate agents put on their pages are horrible. Also, I'm cramping and grumpy. -M |
26 June 2007 ~ Tuesday Thanks to PonyM, my television watching has not decreased as I had once hoped. No, thanks to PonyM, it has increased tenfold (or whatever, I don't feel like doing the math). Here are the things PonyM has introduced me to: Amazing Race, Project Runway, Top Chef, Le Tour (more on that shortly), Entourage, Sex and the City and so on and so forth. Now, she's trying to get me to watch Arrested Development. Despite my protests of "no more!", Tivo has gone behind my back and set up a season pass for the reruns (since it has been cancelled). Next week begins Le Tour de France, also known the three (?) weeks M drives around town grinning like a crazy person at bicyclists. I'm very excited even though last year's Tour left a sour taste in my mouth. We'll see who I end up rooting for this year. Have I mentioned that I'm sick of dealing with insurance companies/car accident stuff? My car is in the shop again to fix something the insurance adjuster didn't tell the body shop guy was broken. In the meantime I'm driving a POS. Definitely incentive for me to not miss my train in the mornings. Operation M vs. Vermin is underway (Vermin being the rats living in the nature area behind our house; not in reference to my boss...although that is also fitting). I have gotten rid of all of the bird feeders except for the one holding the thistle. The finches haven't returned to that bird feeder in forever even though I've changed out the feed. I'm going to research plants that attract birds as a way of also fighting the vermin. Everything else remains relatively the same. The projects I started for the babies when they were still in utero are still underway. They're 3 months (ish?) now. They're also awfully adorable. I love seeing the pictures the Sarahs post. -M |
28 June 2007 ~ Thursday Song of the Day: Working Class Hero by Green Day I went to the mall during lunch today only to find that the Borders Express was no longer that. It actually makes sense, from a business perspective, to not have one there as there is a bigger! better! Borders! just a couple of blocks aways (depending on which entry you use). So I ended up at the evil that is The Body Shop. After I spent my weekly allowance on oil soaking strips for my forhead (I can't remember what they're officially called and I'm way too lazy/tired to bend down, reach in my purse, pull out the package, read the package and type what it say. Granted, in the time it took to explain that I could have done said events, but whatever. Anyway. I decided to avoid all the idiots on the street and walk through the shop tunnel (or whatever it's called). As I emerged into the second half of the mall (it's really hard to explain Pioneer Place even though someone else would find it relatively easy to explain. Essentially: it takes up two city blocks they have a breezeway above the street and a row of shops underneath the street connecting the two parts). Again, anyway...as I emerged into the second half of the mall (on my journey to Borders!) I was hit with the smell of popcorn from the Regal on the fourth (?) third (?) floor. It was an instant olfactory memory moment and I was reminded of being a little kid going with my daycare to the movies in Louisiana. It wasn't any memory in particular, just a smell. A comforting smell, if you will. Yes it was just plain old popcorn but it was mixed with something familiar. It made me smile. Followed immediately by a sense of anger at the idiots in front of me taking up the entire escalator (move the right if you aren't going to walk) and then walking at a snail's pace and taking up parts of my lunch hour that I could not spare. Speaking of the Tour de France. Did you know Floyd Landis wrote a book about the doping scandal? It was 30% off at Borders. I didn't buy it because my love of cycling really only exists for one month and I just bought Stephen King's 1,000+ page book The Stand, so July is going to be occupied on my book reading schedule. July 7 marks the end of school for Brad. He will graduate with a degree in Network Administration. Congratulations to my husband! If anyone would like to pay off his student loans, that would be much appreciated. Even though the debt is/will be completely worth it. -M |
