True story of our home

We bought this house in 1986. It is over a hundred yrs old. Behind us is an old brick building which raps around the block. Sort of an L shape. This building belonged to the previous owners. It was an ice cream factory.

We have not done a history check ourselves. Although, our abstract shows it was once a bar, and a hotel..soo..Im believing what I have been told by a man from our town who knows the history on almost everything here.

He said..this house used to be a motel, a saloon, and at one time was the biggest whore house in the county.

He also says that Thomas Edison slept here, when he came in on the train. the train depot is right across the street from us.

Anyway..Since we have moved in here, we have had many unexplained things happen. From walking around upstairs and noone is home, to heat being shut off, turned on, etc.

My husband wasnt a real believer in this untill the last few years when he has been home more. He always said..aw what ya heard was the house settleing..NOT,...

My daughter awoke one night, this is about, 12 yrs ago, from a nightmare, and sitting next to her was a young man. He was rubbing her forhead and told her, to not worry, go back to sleep and she would be OK..NOW..I have 2 theorys for this..it was either her Angel..(I believe very strongly in them) or it was this spirit. She said she fell back to sleep and had a great dream.

I was laying in bed one night..hot and humid outside, so the kids were in the living room sleeping. I was in my bed room right off the living room. It was about 130 AM when I heard something like a dresser being moved across the floor above me. I thought..what the heck are those kids doing!

I went into the liv room and there they were...all 4 of them..sound asleep. I of course called the cops, and they could find nothing. Except a dresser that was moved.

We were going to sell the house to a small church one time, about 4 yrs ago. I wanted to sell it at the time, and my daughter was a member of their church, and I didnt tell them it was haunted. My daughter brought the pastor and the board of decons over, they went through the house, and when they walked outside..the Pastor of the church said...there is a spirit in that home. I felt it as soon as I walked in. Its a good spirit but needs to go. They loved the house but the financing just wasnt able to happen.

BUT when we were in the process of thinking of selling them this house..the spirit seemed upset. I would find the heat turned OFF, middle of winter, or turned WAY up..noone was home but me..and I didnt do it.

We have a 25 yr old that lives here with us. He moved in while we were on the road so we would have someone keep an eye on the place.

He has been woke up numerous times to his bed being shaken. One night he was in the living room, watching TV, and my verticle blinds lifted apart about 7 inches, as if someone parted them to look out the window. NOW it couldnt of been the wind, coz, we still havent taken off the plastic.

At times at night we would hear a ball being rolled across my bed room floor. Hard wood. We have searched and searched for a ball or something that could make this noise and there is nothing to be found.

One night Mark (kid who lives here) got tired of hearing the ball,.and yelled upstairs...knock it off now!!! The ball or whatever, sounds like a golf ball...slammed on the floor 4 times..and ran across the floor..did this again then stopped. We have NOT heard the ball since.

I have had friends over also who have heard this..and said..is that the ghost..and i say..yep...

Mark and his brother were playing pool in the basement. They set their pool sticks up, and came back upstairs. As soon as they got to the top of the steps they heard a loud WHACK!..Mark ran downstairs and found his pool stick on the bottom step, it had hit the step so hard their is a dent in it.

Now..those pool sticks had been set over at the wall by the old shower down there..this means..it had to go at least 10 feet and around the steps themselves to do what it did...Unexplainable.

It seems to like to pick on Mark alot. I think coz he gets so freaked out, and we dont. We are so used to it, it doesnt bother us.

He awoke one night on the couch, he had fallen alseep watching TV, and he said it was real cold, then he looked and saw what appeared to be a smokey apparition. Now Im the only one in this house who smokes..and we were gone for the weekend.

A couple weeks ago, we went to our sons in upper Iowa. Mark had his brother and sister in law over. He said the lights started doing a brown out. He thought..what the heck..only the lights here in the computer room. Then all of a sudden everything went black..NO power period. Now we have had this happen before but it was the main circut breaker that went.

He went into the basement and ALL of the breakers had been tripped off. NOT just half way, like when they go, but..off..and this has never ever happend here before.

Yesterday we laughed coz...my tv in the living room was on..sound real low..well for some reason this spirit likes it loud I guess..coz it always turns it wayyyy up.. my husband looked at me sort of shocked when all of a sudden we are in here on the computers, noone else is here, and my tv starts blasting away. LOL..I just said...its the ghost..

I have been sitting at my computer many times, and felt someone behind me, when I turn you can barely see someone..sort of like a glance shot, but noone is there.

From what I have learned..there are ghosts and there are spirits. It is the ghosts that are of an evil nature and spirits are ones who passed on suddenly and dont know where to go. So they are in limbo.

Be forewarned tho...dont mess with stuff u know nothing about...

2 weeks ago Mark and I got a hair up our butts and decided to do some internet invetigating on ghosts and spirits. I found a site of a haunted hospital. There was a web cam you could watch so I thought..aww heck why not...arghghgghghg...they also had a midi or wav file of the noise they hear at this hospital. So I loaded the wav file...immediatly Mark and I got creeped out..I mean...felt sick and scared. SO i closed the wav out..all it sounded like was water (sort of like listening to a sea shell) and then loud drip noises. Well..I shut if off..and it wouldnt go OFF!! I had to shut down my fire fox completely to get rid of the noise...OK..I have had this happend before with wavs and midis but bear with me here...

Later I went to bed, when I went to bed, my door was shut and I heard Mark coming down the hall way. I yelled...Mark..knock it off..U r not funny..well folks..it wasnt Mark..he never came upstairs. Anyway..when I got up the next morning Mark was all upset...said he tried to watch TV and the sound to our surround sound wouldnt work. He messed with the wires in the back and all that came on was the...WAV file noise..swear on my life here people. I then said to Mark..Im gonna ask u something..did u come upstairs last night right afetr I went to bed, and he honestly said..NO i did NOT...

Our newest spirit experience is: We bought one of those skull windchimes for trick or treaters. It is motion activated. We hung it up at the bottom of our stairs hoping to get Mark scared good. But..it backfired on Steve and I. We ended up haveing to shut it completely off,because our spirit likes to play with it too much. We even went clear into the kitchen thinking it would stop. It gets to the stop point, winding down, then you can visibly see it being shook, and off it goes again. Im tellin ya..whoever this is, has a heck of a sense of humor LOL.
