For Art: 450 Women Pose Nude in Grand Central Station
Photographer Spencer Tunick is one smart man. He convinced 450 women to show up at New York's Grand Central Terminal on Sunday at 3 a.m. to pose nude in a massive body sculpture that imitated streets, buildings, and cityscapes, reports The Associated Press. Call it a human art installation. See two photos of the nude women in a sculptural formation in Grand Central Terminal. "I wanted to bring the most beautiful people into the most beautiful building," Tunick told AP as he stood inside the Grand Central concourse. Well, maybe. The site was his third choice. He was rebuffed by both the New York Public Library and the Museum of Natural History. Tunick has done this many times before--using hundreds of nude people posed in formations--and gained an international and controversial reputation for his work. "I love his art, and I think he's creating an amazing thing--something different, something fresh," real estate executive Anna Springer told AP. The women formed triangles and squares with their bodies on the floor. AP notes that this latest photo shoot is part of the artist's "Naked World," in which he has been traveling the globe, hoping to gather more than 35,000 people to pose.
This man had a vision...
