NOSTALGIA TV
Ah yes TV WAS good in the good old days! Not like this modern trendy crap they have now. When it was cool to look sad and many a cringe moment was to be had. A lot of famous names have drifted off into oblivion (these will be covered in the TV HEROS section but for the moment just a few TV shows which should bring you all to horrible tears!
1. RAINBOW - OH MY DAYS! What an absolute gem. There is well over a generation who were brought up on a feast of this Thames TV nourishing lunchtime snack. Dodgy relationships between odd coloured animals rules the roost and now these creatures have been brought back into fashion bu trendy students with personal hygiene problems. Always a classic, never to be taken away. Im crying as i type, WE LOVE YOU RAINBOW!
2. HECTORS HOUSE - Bloody mad" "Just a minute ill get my gun!" It rocks and one could quite easily watch the entire DVD of it over and over again. It brings me out in a warm, slightly radioactive glow. Nice!
3. BLUE PETER - Come back John Noakes and Peter Purves! Even Simon Groom and "goldie" the dog! Many a happy memory building things and seeing presenters talking absolute pap! But probably best remembered for bringing JOEY DEACON into the public eye. A life changing experience (see TV HEROS)
4. THE FLUMPS - Only present here because they needed a good fucking kicking. Hated it!
5. MARY MUNGO AND MIDGE - They live in a town. Do you live in a town? Do you have flowers in your window box? Very trippy but still very wholesome. Strange movement of characters and even odder storylines than Mr Benn. But hey' it was the seventies you know!
6. PIPKINS - seems to have been lost in time this one, not many people remember it that well. Shame as Hartly hare was probably the most arrogant character on childrens TV, making Zippy look like you grandmother staying up all night to make you your favourite fruit cake. A classic, trust me, i know about these things.
Others worth a mention (for whatever reason) - Button Moon. Very odd indeed, bordering on disturbing but Ex Dr Who Peter Davidson sung the tune and he shares a birthday with me so it passes. THE TOMORROW PEOPLE - oh god headfuck! Weird shit that had Keith Chegwin in, and talking of Cheggers, has to be CHEGGERS PLAYS POP, i wanted those yellow t shirts. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS with Ron Pickering and stupid games where everyone jumped in a pool at the end. Inspired a song by my old band SGP which went "Ron Pickering, your heart started flickering, because you are bickering, with Harry Carpenter. Genius!!!!!!
