THE DEALER Fine. Hands the briefcase to The Man Goodbye. As The Dealer turns to go we see The Man raise his arm in the background. From a pistol he had been concealing he fires three shots into The Dealer's back. As The Dealer staggers before he falls to the ground his eyes glaze over as he is enveloped in the mists of death. He drops to his knees then sprawls onto his face. On his back are three bloody spots where the bullets entered his now lifeless body. The Man replaces his firearm and prepares to leave. We see now, that when The Dealer fell the small wooden crucifix slipped from his fingers and now lies a few inches from his hand. Walking away, The Man treads insouciantly upon it, grinding it into the dirt with blithe unconcern. In this simple act of unnoticing disdain is represented all the soulless uncaring and empty self-service of the life The Dealer had come so close to leaving. |
