Mount Kinabalu May 2003
Mount Kinabalu holds a lot of beautiful memories for me. It is my maiden climb above 4000 metres. And it's a travel reunion of sorts for me and my university chums.

I had forgotten the camaderie we enjoyed during university years, which is rekindled in this trip. Despite exhaustion, lack of preparation, and two members battling tummy ache, our group of six managed to reach Low's Peak (4095 metres). Watching the sunrise, being way above the sea of clouds, and the satisfaction of reaching the top - these are experiences that I would not trade for anything!
Basecamp timpohon
Enjoying a relaxing day before the climb. Fresh faces at Timpohon Gate, the beginning of the climb ...

Laban Rata - the midway point. Actually it's higher than the midway point. Can't quite remember how high though but it's after the AMS level ...
We began the climb at 2+ am in order to reach the peak for sunrise. It was more than worth it!

The view going down Low's Peak. The view is equally spectacular in the clear light of day!
A mountain to remember. And a joy shared among friends.
St John
I think this is the most photographed peak - St John's.
