Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe 2002

Amazing Victoria Falls straddles bewteen two African countries - Zimbabwe and Zambia. We journeyed to Victoria Falls by van from Pretoria, then through Botswana and entered into Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe. It was an interesting journey as we spent the evening on a booze cruise. Yup ... free booze, drink as you please, except that the cruise itself cost about USD30. The next day, we took a ride across the border and bridge into Zambia. We then took a microlite flight over Victoria Falls. It was an exciting but scary half hour as we strapped ourselves on a motorbike with wings. That's what the microlite is! We visited Victoria Falls in the parks in both countries. The Falls from the Zimbabwean side is more ferocious. You could literally get wet just walking along the park. From the Zambian side, you can get better shots of the Falls. It's difficult to compare which side is better. Just go to both when you are there. It's a dramatic sight!

Money exchange in Zimbabwe. Due to the political instability, exchange rates were sky high and we had to find alternative options to change our cash.

A beautiful end to the booze cruise. Watching the sunset on the Zambesi river. What a sight to behold! And this is no drunken stupor!!!
