Lost Chance

You thought it was just one regular jeepney ride, you do it everyday, but then you saw her. She was seated slightly across to you. As soon as you laid eyes on her, you felt something. Something, it was intense. It was too much you don’t understand. Try as you might… you simply can’t stop looking at her… want her… what’s her name? You have to know her name… where she lives… what she likes to do… what she is like… you don’t care, you simply want to be with her… hold her in your arms, whisper sweet nothing to her ears… make her smile… smile at you… just one smile… one smile, you’d be happy to die… such a sweet death would it be if it would be in her arms that you let go of your last breath…

          What’s her name…?

          You could ask… You don’t want to…

          Scared? Ashamed? Embarrassing?

          …Of what?

You want to but what if…?

She pulled the string that would signal the driver that she was to get off already. Last chance. The jeepney stopped, she propped to stand. Last chance. Bent down, she walked off… last chance… you just watched her go…

Wanting to get off and follow her… you just watch her as the jeepney you are in start to move away from her… last chance… you hesitate… last chance… you could no longer see her… last chance… you hope not… God, let it be not the last time…

          Lost chances…

Today is Wednesday… tomorrow would be Thursday—a week already. Not a word since Friday… damn, I miss him… my hope starts to fall apart… why can’t I just let go of it? I really should be used to it… it’s been so been there, so done that… hoping against hope… I just never learn!

What if she was the one…? What if she was the one you are destined to…? Your soul mate, the one that would make you whole? What now?

There she went already. You were given a chance. One mistake, a mistake inevitable, it is human nature to feel fear… you let her go?

Are you to suffer now? Forever? Are you to pay for it for eternity? That was your chance. Chance, would there be another? Could be the gods be that good?  She was the one. The one whose arms you are to feel eternal bliss. The one you are to be complete. What now? She was gone.
