It was band practice night in Ystranglus and Betty and Beeny arrived in good time. Beeny was soon attempting a chromatic scale to get her horn nicely warmed up while Betty sat forlornly thinking that it would be another 22 hours before she would next savour the rich texture of her beloved noodle snack. Eventually, Mongus arrived and the rehearsal got underway.

After a few pieces had been played, Beeny decided that she needed to go to the toilet. Apparently, the facilities at the bandroom were not up to the required standard so she took Betty out of the rehearsal for company as her ablutions were carried out in the neighbouring pub. They had not been gone for a minute when there was a loud crash at the door and in stormed three balaclava-clad figures, one of whom was brandishing a gun. There were gasps of shock, horror and disbelief from the remaining players at the rehearsal but, before the intruders could make their intentions known, the door burst open again. A flurry of blurred activity ensued and, in an instant, all three malentents were tied together and being whisked at breakneck speed through the door. The gun lay in a twisted heap on the bandroom floor. No-one had a clue what had just happened - it was all over so quickly. Emrys reckoned the heroine of the piece was a masked female figure, clad in a wonder woman style outfit emblazoned with a large letter 'N'. The whole episode had been so unbelievable that no one bothered to question this unlikely hypothesis. By the time Beeny and Betty had returned from their excursion, the band had already launched into a rendition of 'The Lost Chord'.
