As the town clock struck twelve, there was a huge cheer from the folk assembled on Ystranglus town square.  It was the start of the band's Centenary year and following the tragic events that had taken place a few years earlier, the whole community had rallied in support. An influx of new players and a new determination within the band had secured a well-deserved promotion.  The Desmond Protheroe memorial had been bulldozed and replaced with a statue of Gondor and his family alongside a brand new bandroom that had been built entirely by the residents of Rhestr Fach.
After two years in a high-security prison, Spaniel had just been institutionalised.  Helen had disappeared shortly after the death of Katrina but was later discovered working on the streets of Brynamman.  Stew had left the band due to the pressure of running his new chain of florist shops.  He had hoped to return at the start of the year but felt unable to give enough commitment.  But to make up for the disappointment of this, he sent a present to the band...
