Delta Releases "I Don't Care" A debut single is always hard, but things are looking very promising for sensational new Sydney based singer Delta Goodrem. 17-year-old Delta's first single "I Don't Care" was released to retail this week, after already receiving massive attention at radio. In particular Delta has been a hit with Austereo's Hot30.com, where "I Don't Care" won the Panel of Eight ten nights in a row. "The Hot 30 was such a big thing," laughs Delta. "Every night we were sitting down in my room with the radio on just absolutely panicking. And every caller we'd be like, ·oh no, oh no -. And then when they said ·Delta - it was like, yippee! It's just so great to be on there." Despite the wonderful reception the single has already received, Delta is remaining very down to earth about the possible public response to "I Don't Care". "I just want to see what happens. I'm not expecting anything yet. This is just a first step, and it is so great to be on there that everything else doesn't matter." With the single now in stores, Delta has been swamped with promotional activities, including an appearance on Channel V's By Demand, filming for the Disney show which will air in early December and numerous radio appearances. And as if this wasn't enough to keep her on her toes, she is also in the process of putting the finishing touches on her album, which will be released in June 2002. "It's nearly finished," says Delta excitedly. "I've only got two or three more tracks to do. Half the album has been recorded in Germany. Mark Holden is the executive producer, and the songs are written by me and other people as long as it's a good song I will do other people's stuff, I don't mind. But it's all pretty exciting." There will be another two singles released before the album hits the stores, so fans will have a good idea of what to expect from Delta's debut record. In the meantime Delta is happy to focus on "I Don't Care" and hope for the best. Other Stories |
