Delta's Big Year It's been a huge year for Delta Goodrem. The 18-year-old Sydney girl relocated to Melbourne to take up the role of Nina Tucker on Neighbours, started work on her debut album, and travelled to Finland to make the video for her single 'Born To Try' to name just a few. The most memorable moment however would undoubtedly have been when 'Born To Try' topped the national ARIA charts. 'I was on the phone to a friend in England and I'd just come back from the Christmas Tree Lighting,' she explains. 'I got home late and the charts weren't ready yet. I was almost falling asleep on the phone and then it rang on the other line and I was thinking who would call me at this time of night. It was a friend of mine saying Congratulations you're #1. He had gone on to the ARIA web site and the new charts were up and he saw it. I was wide awake after that and jumping around the room. I was so excited. I am relieved the single went to #1. It was all a bit nerve racking, but it's all good now.' Watch out for Delta's next single due for release early next year. Her debut album is slated for a March 2003 release. Other Stories |
