the kryziu kalnas, winter 2004
28th, August
damon came and visit here. so we want to the Kryziu Kalnas (hill of crosses), which is to me, the most facinating cultural / historical place in lithuania.
by the way i like Kryziu Kalnas in winter much more, because in summer, this place is full of tourists like us, too crowded. and too easy to find......as so many ppl are going there.
in winter, there're no ppl there, and the most important thing is, in winter, Kryziu Kalnas is immersed in snow white atmosphere, you can't see it until you come within 100m, making it super myterious.
and you can feel the silence there only in winter.
i decided to upload this photo of Kryziu Kalnas. how it looks in summer, you can find online easily.
finally i can't find the cross we left 2 yrs ago, but i put a new cross there, to my family, for a peaceful life.
so friends if you're going to visit there, you may try to look for the "second hill", on the left near the top, i left the cross there.

looking foward to the linz-prague-berlin trip, hope it'll be an interesting trip.

also glad to hear that ar9 is better now and will recover one day. add oil ar9**
my beloved ar 9 (golden one),being flirted by another ugly dog
22nd, August
today i heard from home that ar 9 is sick, he has got kind of skin sickness, and a quite serious one.
oh poor ar 9! i miss you very very much!

about 10 years ago, one night my sister and me went home, we saw ar 9 sitting on the stairs. he looks poor and calm. i try to ask him to follow me home, finally we picked him home and he's living with us since.
i love him, he's not a pure bleed, i don't know what his bleed is, but his golden colour and long nose is so handsome.
one day i walked with him on the street, a guy said "wao see this young golden retriver!", i was so pround of my dog!!

he's not a good dog, pissing anywhere, (and that's why we can't put anything valuable on the floor at all), not to obey us, or even don't come to us even we call him kindly, he even bites my brother. sometimes ar 9 really make us angry.

sometimes he's very cute, keeping running rounds at home for hours, and he's willing to play at any time. if you throw a toy to him, he's going to damge it before he sleep, no one can stop that. we visited the lamma island together, he's so happy and sometimes he just don't know where i am and go to follow a stranger, i have to run and catch him back. that trip to lamma island is the longest trip for ar 9. ar 9 like strangers but he's very shy to other dogs.

he's living with us for almost 10 years, although he's kind of mentally disabled, we all love him, we know he'll leave us someday, but i hope i won't see his left.

he's now under treatment and taking steroid, which makes him excited. my family told me that he got excited very easily now, running all the time and can't sleep at night.
my poor ar 9, i hope i can be with you when you're sick, like last time when you're in the hospital.

when i'm back home, i'll take you to the countryside again, to meet a girlfriend may be?

this trip to Ukraine is far more smooth and easier then expected. may be it's the second time i visit Kiev, so it's not a nightmare to find the metro and hostel anymore.
also the trip to Chernobyl is better then i expected as well.
i met an Ukrainian named "vera", i bought a music instrument from her little stall. she's working hard and trying to fulfill her dreams, i wish her goodluck**
on the other hand i saw some ukrainian who are working in extreme attitude, who eventually make me laugh~
now i like Kiev and if i've chance i'll surely visit here again, and the Chernobyl.

10th, August

fianlly i've got the visa for Belarus, the ticket to Kiev, so my trip to Chernobyl is almost settled, i said almost because you'll never know how Ukrainian react next......and i know i'll have a big big challage as being alone in Kiev**
the weather of wedseday and thursday are good, so i went out and walk alot around the old town, and some newly developed area. Vilnius is a tranquil city.
i spent hours sitting at "cafe de paris", too. i hope weather on saturday will be fine so i can visit the beloved flea market.
i try to cook here, try to make some chinese style food but i found it impossible to get some basic ingredients, such as oyster sauce. so i stick with potatos and spagetti, again.
friends are all busy (here and those in HK), seems that i'm the only one who're busy with non-sense.

4th, August

my friends ask why i always order coke as drinks. i said i like coke.
yes i have been drinking coke for yrs.
so i gotta share some experience of how to drink the best coke.

first, taste of coke, in order of best in front, is
in glass bottle => in can => in plastic bottle => coke from soft drink mechine

also these are some criteria for best coke:
1) coke should be as ice-colded as possible (except boiled lemon coke), but not freezed. also adding ice cubes into coke for cooling is a crime. it will only make the taste worst.
2) coke SHOULD NOT be poured out, pour coke out is another crime, if it is a must to pour coke out, pls make you stupid cup with an angle to avoid extra lost of "air" inside.
3) coke should be drink FRESH, coke being left for more then half an hour can be regarded as dead. even it's inside an air-tight bottle. after unveiling the seal the life of coke starts.
4) don't use a straw to drink coke, try to drink directly from the container. coke passing through the straw will result a violent lost of "air".

if any of these criteria is violated, this drink is no longer "coke".
of course this is merely personal experience, you can pour out coke, adding ice into it, wait for half an hour and use a straw, then enjoy**

2nd, August

finally i got sth uploaded about my trip. although rough but i hope i can share sth to my friends. i hate my hand-writings but i think it's more real and direct to scan what i think and write, during or after the trip.

times passed fast and i'm here for more then a month, i'm happy here so far. sometimes i do have moody moments, luckily i have friends to share, although they're far from me.
thanks for all of you who send me things, including very nice noodles, tea, cameras, etc. hehe....looking forward for next gift or postcards**

thanks my family that they never made pressure on me and they care about me much, too**
