THOUGHTS ON AYU-------BY lsj --------A cool French Ayu fan =) !!!!

  I've read your thoughts about Ayu (maybe I was bored too!?)... Well
it was quite interesting and I spent a good time reading it.
Do you want to know how I started to like Ayu?
Actually I'm quite a new Ayu fan, I've known her for about 6 months... I
can say I'm quite a "newbie" in Jpop. I don't know lot of artists and
so. But it's because of the internet I know about the J-stuff. In France
it's mostly American or French artists who rulez, and there aren't any
Japanese thing, it would appear too "exotic" for French I'd say.
But recently I wasn't interested any longer neither in the US music scene
nor in the French one. Well I used to love French rap groups, they ruled
but it was the "old school" groups who were good, they quite sing stuff
you can easily recognize yourself and your everyday life in it (but it's
typically French I don't think you know about French rap). But as French
rap started to become popular, there were a lot of crap things that went
out (but it made some people because 1. it was really commercial, it
sells well 2.the French songs quota on radio was respected). Even the
best groups were making horrible stuff.
What has French rap in common with Ayu you'd say? Strictly nothing!
(although I think it's cute when she makes a rap-style in Fly High) But
it since that period I started to search for other things, and internet
was a good way...
So I started to download first some anime songs (from the anime I
knew and it sounds really funny because the songs in French were so
crappy) and after some Jpop songs but it was in total random. That's how
I downloaded Boys & Girls and I immediately love it. After that I
started to download all her songs and I found them all great, Ayu has a
unique voice (when she sings, I didn't really hear her voice when she
speaks), you can easily recognize her. Next step : I wanted to know how
she looked like... At first I must admit I was quite disappointed, not
that she was not cute but I thought she was a sort of "weirdo" because I
saw just her head with red hairs (maybe it was the same photo that your
friend showed you?!). Because in France the image of Japanese is (except
the tourists) that they are strange, I mean they have strange wearing
style (I have seen before some pics of X-Japan, Glay or the typically
image of the "sailor" girls). But I saw other pics and found that she
was really, really cute.
You say that in your thoughts but I really love her big expressive eyes
(but in my case I always look the eyes first and physically that's what
I like the most in a girl ^-^ seems strange, huh? Oh well never mind
you're a girl too, must be hard to understand...). I read that she wrote
her lyric herself, that's why I like her even more and she seems for me
also even more "interesting". Also the things I read in lot of Ayu site
about her seems to prove that she has quite a temper :-) and that seems
cool. So bad I don't understand Japanese well (hopefully you make great
translations).
Overall I think Ayu has changed in certain ways how I appreciate some
things in life and made me love even more the Japanese culture. She will
be for a long time the female artist I like the most and admire (My all
time favorite personality is still Zizou though but it's a man...)
