The Archives Episode 2: Corrupt Lies Written by: Apeman (zeni316@y...) Genre: psychological thriller/mystery Apeman's Comment: .....this sux... Yk2's Comment: No it doesn't. "Freaking rain," The rain never stops in this city, and again my hair is soaked. The CSI boys are trying to dig up as much as they can, but it looks like the rain washed a lot of the evidence away. I sighed as I took a sip from my coffee. "God, this one's ugly, sir," It was Sergeant Kohta, my best friend. "It looks like a rape and murder case. She was beaten to death." "Hh." I looked up at the sky. "Identification?" "Not yet, sir. It looks like it's just a street whore." "That's a nice way of saying it," I said, as I tipped the rest of my coffee into my mouth. "C'mon, let's go." The precinct was utter madness, and people were rushing in and out of the building and the pouring rain. A local whore identified the victim and asked Kohta if he wanted a good time. Kohta was right; she was just a street whore. "Paperwork, paperwork. Maybe I should have accepted the whore's offer." Kohta said, as he turned to me. "Hh. We're cops, Kohta. We don't do whores." I chuckled, and walked away. "Takeo!" It was my boss, Police Chief Yoshiki. "Sir?" "CSI just picked up something; told me to tell you to get back to the lab," He said and walked away. +++++ The lab was just as chaotic, if not more, as the precinct. There were masses of people, each looking down a large magnifying glass for fingerprints on certain items. I looked around and took a sip from my eighth cup of coffee. "Yo," It was a tall, lanky man, who looked like he hadn't shaved in months. "Hello. Detective Takeo," I muttered, extending my hand. "Ken," the tall man replied, as he accepted the handshake. "You want to see this," Ken picked up a baseball bat wrapped in plastic. It had streaks of blood across it. They must have checked it for fingerprints or maybe to see if the blood matched. But I had never seen it before. "What's this?" I asked. "This is the murder weapon," +++++ "Hh." I growled. It was early in the next morning. "No jelly-filled doughnuts?" "Sorry, sir," Kohta said. "Just sugar-glazed." "Hh. Give me two. These doughnuts suck." "Yes, sir, they do," Kohta smiled. "You know that bat they found?" I asked. "They say it was found about twenty meters from the body, well hidden." "Any fingerprints?" he asked, munching away on his doughnut. I shook my head and waved goodbye to Kohta and walked away. I needed a smoke so bad, but instead I filled up another cup of coffee. Trying to quit. "Hey, Takeo," "Lieutenant Jiro, sir, how are you?" He was chewing a piece of gum. Must be trying to quit, too. Oh wait, he never smokes. "Fine, fine. Just too much work nowadays," He dropped his gum wrapper on the floor. "Better throw that away, sir," I suggested, as I bent down to pick it up. "Oop, you touched it, it's your mess, now. I'll be seeing you, Takeo," he said cheerfully and walked away. "Of course," I mumbled, and I rushed back to Kohta. +++++ "Hh. Knew it," I said, as Ken told me the news. "So a nearby trash can had fingerprints of the likely rapist and murderer, but that doesn't prove anything," "Right, but you and your boys already said that the woman's clothes had some of the suspect's hair. The murderer probably had gloves on when he struck her with the bat, but he probably didn't bother cleaning up his mess when he raped her. And, it looks like she got a piece of the son of a bitch." I pointed to the broken nails and broken knuckle. "Got `im good, too." His mess, I thought to myself. "So, who's been walking around with a scratch or a black eye?" I was beginning to get impressed by Ken's fast thinking. "The only guy I remember seeing with a black eye is Representative Takuro." I looked up and smiled. +++++ "What is the meaning of this?!" Representative Takuro demanded. "I have nothing to do with this case! I'm a Representative, for God's sake!" "I'm terribly sorry, sir, but evidence from the crime scene all point to one man. You. Sir." I almost smiled. This is one of the most corrupt individuals ever known, but there never was enough evidence to send him to jail. Until now. "You really think I did it, don't you?" he asked, raising his voice. "Where's your evidence? Motive?" "All of the fingerprints on the victim's clothes were identified as yours. A witness reports that she saw the victim enter a limo with license plate number AXA- 0011. That, sir, happens to be your limo." That felt good. "Is that so?" he smiled and looked back at one of his bodyguards. Suddenly, Kohta exploded into the room. "Takeo! The witness!" "Hh. Son of a .." I looked back at Representative Takuro. He was smiling. Damn you. +++++ "Freaking rain," It was a new case. I took a puff from my cigarette and started a conversation with Kohta. With the witness dead, there wasn't enough evidence to send Takuro to jail. He must have sent one of his hitmen to eliminate anybody who can help send him to jail. Some of the evidence was also tampered with, and most of the evidence had become utterly useless. Don't know if Ken was bribed or not. Hh. I'll put this one under experience. ~OWARI~ |
