                “God,”

I ran.  I ran as fast as I could out of room 304 and into the dark hallway.  The rain splattered all over the windows as lightning flashed across the dark purple sky.  I gasped and wheezed, trying hard to stay on my feet and to stay conscious.  I slammed a door open and raced up the narrow staircase.  I didn’t know where it would lead, but I ran anyway.

                “God,”

“Where are you going, Takeo?” Kohta’s voice boomed. “Kyo, where are you running to?”

I reached the top of the flight of stairs and shoved the door open.  I heard the rain crack against the ground, and when I emerged from the stairs, I could feel the rain crash into my body.

“Uh…huh….hh…” I shut my eyes, trying to catch my breath.  Then I looked up.

+++++

Kohta was standing alone, on the roof of the tenement, arms spread out.  His large coat hung from his outstretched arms, looking like a cape.  His hood covered his dark face.  I looked straight into the darkness of his hood as I rose to my feet.

“Kohta!” I yelled. “Why are you doing this?”

Kohta stood still, his arms remained outstretched.

                “Damnit, Kohta, answer me!”

“I’m sorry, Kyo, but I believe it’s a little too late for you,”

My eyes widened, and I began to walk closer to Kohta.

“Don’t you remember, Takeo?” Kohta asked. “You were so frustrated when you saw Kyo’s parents dead with their blood oozing out of their brains?”

I stopped walking and looked down, staring at the ripples of the rain.

“Part of you wanted to put Kyo in the slammer, right?” Kohta’s voice began to change. “But the other part of you wanted to let him go, to let him be free because you wanted to do the same exact thing to your parents,”

I collapsed to my knees.  This… this is true, right?

“You let the little bastard go because he reminded you of yourself, only six years ago.  And now, when you see the boy’s tracks everywhere, you don’t feel angry towards him.  You are jealous.”

“God,” I broke into tears, closing my eyes. “God, no…”

“God, I believe, doesn’t want anything to do with this, my friend,”

The rain continued to soak my body, my coat dripping with water.  My hair was drenched, sticking to my forehead and covering my eyes.  My shades were soaked, and I couldn’t see anything through them anymore.  My head felt heavy, and my shades fell from my nose as I looked down.  The rain almost looked purple.

“Takeo is a broken man.  Kyo destroyed him, isn’t that right, Kyo?”

“Y-Yes,” I responded.  What the hell’s happening to me?

I looked up at Kohta’s face when a large gust of wind blew off his hood.  His face was dark, his lips in a straight line.  His eyes…

                “Son of a …”

He stared straight into my eyes.  His eyes are darkened by black, and his left eye…had a black slash drawn downward.

                “KIRITO!”
