Her body was taken over my Mistress 9 since her father went crazy and died. She later was reborn and lived with Haruka and Michiru, whom she saw as her parents. I would imagine Mistress 9 would leave a mark on her. Before her rebirth Hotaru was someone who didn't fit in well with others. She was a very lonely girl. After rebirth she seems happy nuff. I think the picture on the left potrays her before her rebirth very well. It's a beautiful picture, ne?

Hotaru is Sailor Saturn. She is one of the outer Sailor Senshi. She has a cool staff, ne? =D The planet Saturn in Greek mythology represents death and rebirth. So does the colour purple (aside from representing royalty, intelligence, religiousness, holiness, sadness, power, and healing. And no, purple does not mean gay...) Sailor Saturn does have power since she is the only Sailor Senshi that has the ability to bring destruction to the planet. Did I mention her cool staff? =D She also has sadness, and intelligence because despite her age she is very mature. In the anime she has shielding attacks and the attack that destroys the planet, but in the manga she seems to have healing powers as well, which is also associated with purple. I love her overall. Go her! =D

Hotaru is very close with Chibi-Usa. They're best friends. =D It's good to see her happy. Anyway, yeah, they get quite close after Hotaru's rebirth. Even though she was born as a baby, she grew fairly fast due to a threat to Sailor Moon earth and got pretty close to Chibi-Usa's age. And that brought them close. It works like this: Baby Hotaru small, evil villain threatens Sailor Moon, Saturn in Baby Hotaru awakens and gives Baby Hotaru super duper growth spurt. And tada, she's much older so she can become Sailor Saturn and blow up the planet when needed. Well, ok, that sums it up =P Har
