Petra
Petra is a 2000 year old rock carved city of Nabataeans that flourished around the time of Christ and Romans.  The entrance is a 1km long narrow gorge which was paved and had aqueducts carved on sides of cliffs.
Start of the siq, or the pathway to the city. The original pavement is gone.
You can see the carved aqueduct on the left.  A clay pipe carried the water into the city. The fissure gets narrower and cliffs taller as we approach the city.
