Fix our eyes on things above (notes prepared by Lydia)
Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain (Ps 127:1)
We must live for the Lord.
Our cry: I'm tired and hungry...
God's response:
(1) Hunger and thirst for righteousness
(2) Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and i will give you rest.

Hunger and thirst after righteousness
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

Disciple's Study Bible:
A mark of the Spirit within us is a hunger to live out the will of God. Without God's energizing, sustaining and closeness our fulfillment in life grows weak. By feeding on His presence and guidance, our lives grow and mature. Seeking the will of God causes us to be at cross purposes with our cultural values. Our call is not to be religious experts but humble servants of God's justice. We will be made fun of, and some will even be martyred for Christ's sake. Yet, any righteousness we proclaim and live out is not our own, but that which God's grace works in us through the redemptive acts of Christ.

Application:
Am I walking in faith in God? How can I walk in greater faith?

Do I hunger and thirst after righteousness? Do I hunger to live out the will of God in my life? How can I hunger even more?

Go to God for rest
1. Walk in God's will
When we walk where the good way is, we will find rest for our weary soul.
This is what the Lord says, "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." (Jeremiah 6:16)

2. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest..."
(Matthew 11:28-30)
God will give you rest when you go to him. God nourishes you with his love when you go to him for rest.

3. Keep the Sabbath
The Lord rested on the seventh day. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. (Genesis 2:3)

Rest is not away from God - We rest IN God. As Christ's ambassadors we do not rest from our work, it is our duty to carry Christ wherever we go. But we should rest IN his presence. Keep a Sabbath to worship him and admire his works.

Application:
Am I walking in God's will for my life? If not, do I want to do so? What practical step can I take?
Do I go to God for rest, or do I run to other sources? What practical step can I take to go to God?
Am I keeping the Sabbath?
