Peering through Edna's Spectacles

Well, since you are here and see my photo generic picture plainly in your face,
I might as well tell you a little about myself...

My name is Edna T. Banayat. I obtained my BS degree in Foods and Nutrition under the Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University. I was an active member of the Student Nutrition Organization on campus. I attended the Dietetic internship at Glendale Memorial Hospital which began August 2001 and concluded June 2002.

I am currently working as a Clinical Dietitian at one of the hospitals in the San Fernando Valley while residing in the exciting county of Los Angeles.

I aspire to work with the community promoting wellness through nutrition education and assisting the geriatric population in their nutritional needs. However, I am very flexible and open to other options should they arise.

I currently hold the title of the first Ms. Kajukenbo. This all started in Vallejo, CA during the summer of 1997 when I competed in the Miss Kajukenbo Pageant. Here is an article from the paper that explains a brief background on how I attained my crown.

I relinquished my active reign in Hawaii July 2000. During my reign I traveled and competed interstate and across the Pacific to various different martial art tournaments and related events representing Kajukenbo.

I am extremely grateful to my instructor Professor Tony Bowles, Mama Linda and my fellow brothers and sisters at Bowles Kosho-Ryu/Gong Fu/Kajukenbo Academy of Martial Arts. These wonderful people have worked long and hard conducting fundraisers to pay for my travels and to ensure my safety at these events. (Special thanks to Aniway, my personal body guard *G*)

From my understanding, the next Miss Kajukenbo pageant will be held on the 100th Anniversary of Kajukenbo or in the year 2047.

Some activities I enjoy partaking in are reading books that discuss stories of the Asian culture, watching anime and martial arts movies, drawing pictures or sketching people, following the adventures of all the Final Fantasy games, and working out.

I **USE** to chat on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) everyday, every moment I had free. My nick is "Yurii." Fortunately, for me (in respects to my grades and sanity) and my family (poor people always trying to call my non-call waiting phone line), I have totally withdrawn from IRC. The real reason: It's partially due to my inability to find people I know online!

*raises my eyebrow* But I guess my relation to IRC isn't why you stopped by. I suppose I should discuss more on who I am, as a person and so on...

I hold many and plenty theories and thoughts about life/people.
I would like to speak about some of them first...

I believe that for the same amount of people who like you, there is the same amount whom dislike you...

I believe that things and events happen for a reason however we do have control over the course of these events. What matters is what we decide to do when that moment of decision-making comes.

One may inquire, "Edna, why are you so giddy?" I would respond by relaying my idea of facing towards the better of events. If you ask Eileen, a visual reaction of disgust will overcome her about my extreme optimism. Hehehe ;D However this may have changed since we now live under different roofs.
Try not to expect from others nor from the future...from expectations comes disappointment. This is along the lines of Buddhist teachings.

Gee, it's harder to type them down as oppose to just saying 'em...*grrrr*

My story continues as I still walk, talk, and breath. However, this website is not my priority and is not really important enough to get me back to my computer and on the internet to finish all this! *smiles* In the meantime, please sign the guestbook to tell me how I am doing so far ;) all constructive comments are appreciated much! *grins* Thanks for your time.
