Kuwabara and Shorin set themselves into the field. Botan whispers to Yusuke that this does not look good for Kuwabara, for if Shorin is indeed Rando, Kuwabara will be in a battle that he cannot win.
Yusuke rushes to Kuwabara’s side and whispers to him that he should back out of the fight, since Shorin is most likely to be the demon Rando, and that he is no match for him. Kuwabara is enraged with the comment, he snaps back and says that Yusuke is only making excuses so that Kuwabara won’t win the tournament, and then he brags that after Shorin, Yusuke will be the next to fall. Yusuke backs off from Kuwabara’s side, and goes back to Botan.
Botan tells Yusuke that the truth is, Shorin was the last of her list to be Rando. Yusuke adds that Shorin looks so innocent and harmless compared to the other fighters. And he continues this by saying that if Rando is indeed who Spirit World claims he is, he should look a bit more menacing.
In Spirit World, Koenma comments that Yusuke and Botan should not be looking at physical feature. Of all the fighters that Rando fought, all ninety-nine failed to win. And everyone who saw Rando’s face, does not last long enough to live to tell the tale.Now the last semi-final fight starts!
Kuwabara rushes at Shorin, Shorin puts his defense up, and Kuwabara lands his punch in Shorin’s face. Shorin gets thrown off balance from the impact, and falls down on the field. Everyone is shocked, except Genkai, and Shorin says that Kuwabara is incredibly strong. Kuwabara, still shocked, tells Shorin that the fight is still starting and asks that if Shorin is okay. Shorin stands, comments that Kuwabara need not worry about his condition. And he rushes to attack Kuwabara, blow by blow, Kuwabara evades it easily, and in a quick attack, Kuwabara throws down a closed-fist slam on Shorin’s head.
Yusuke looks at this stunned and asks Botan that if Shorin is indeed Rando. Since he does not show any above normal skill, and Kuwabara is beating him to a pulp. He continues that maybe it is possible that Rando has already been defeated, and that Shorin is just another competitor. Botan takes into consideration that it is possible, Yusuke then thinks that is it possible that Rando maybe NOT one of the competitors, but rather is lurking around for an opportunity to obtain Genkai’s power.
Shorin falls down again, but this time he says that he cannot fight Kuwabara in terms of strength. He begins to gather power, Botan says that Shorin’s ki pattern is changing. In a few seconds Shorin’s hand suddenly containes a fireball. He leaps and throws it to Kuwabara and shouts,"Circles of Inferno!"
Kuwabara alerts himself of the attacks and evades it, it passes by him closely, and Shorin continues to throw a barrage of fireballs. Kuwabara gets pissed off and decides that he will use his Spirit Sword. And in an instant, Kuwabara unleashes his Spirit Sword.
Shorin throws another fireball towards Kuwabara, but this time Kuwabara positions himself like a baseball player. As soon as the fireball is in range, Kuwabara swings his sword like a bat,hitting the fireball and deflecting it back at Shorin.
Shorin is angered by this,and starts to chant, saying out of this world kind of incantation. Yusuke starts to wonder what this is all about. Genkai says that she remembers this kind of invocation, and that it can only be done by few, if not only one person.
Kuwabara ignores this invocation and rushes to Shorin, but Shorin finishes his invocation and he suddenly grows in size! Kuwabara is dwarfened by Shorin’s size. Before Kuwabara can really comment, he sees a caterpillar on his side, and it is also huge. This only meant one thing, Kuwabara shrunk!
Shorin takes a few steps towards Kuwabara, and grabs Kuwabara from the ground, and squishes him. He says that now that the tides have turned,and he will have a little fun by testing how much pressure it will take to break Kuwabara’s bones. He tears off Kuwabara’s sleeve, and starts to twist and push his arm up from the elbow part. Kuwabara can feel his arm being popped out of place, and shouts in pain. In one instant moment, Shorin breaks Kuwabara’s arm.
Yusuke angered by the situation shouts out, he tells Genkai that he will step into the fight now, but Genkai says that she will stop the fight. She tells Shorin that the fight is over, Kuwabara lost.
Shorin only says that he will enjoy the moment longer, he crushes Kuwabara’s body, and Kuwabara shouts louder in pain. Yusuke, now anger filled, rushes to Shorin telling him to let go of Kuwabara, and at the same time, Yusuke shows a sign of hostility. But Shorin throws Kuwabara away, and in a short invocation, Kuwabara returns to normal size.
Shorin says that he can use the invocation against a lot of people, but since it takes a long time to cast, he cannot use it sparingly. And he states that with Genkai’s power, hundreds of people are nothing.
Yusuke and Botan rush to Kuwabara’s side, examining his body. Botan says that Kuwabara’s arms are both broken and shattered, broken ribs and his body is totally bruised. Kuwabara says that even if all of his bones are broken, he will still fight Yusuke, since their fight is not over. Then Kuwabara falls unconscious on the spot.Yusuke holds Kuwabara’s head then clenches his fists. He stands up and looks at Shorin. The sem-final match in the tournament goes to Shorin, said Genkai.
Shorin comments that Yusuke’s energy is immense, and that the spirits in the field is also aiding Yusuke, without warning Yusuke rushes to Shorin. Punching Shorin in the face, with a ki filled fist, blowing Shorin away. Shorin is shocked at Yusuke’s power, he did not expect such a strength and power is contained in Yusuke’s body. But once he tries to move, his legs does not want to move.
Yusuke continues to beat Shorin up, and after a while, Shorin gets up. Face beaten and body already banged up, he concludes that he must use techniques against Yusuke. He jumps into the air, and focuses his power, and yet again, another different ki pattern forms.
Genkai says that this technique is a famous fighter’s technique, only that it is another unique style. It uses ki to create a vacuum around the user, and focusing it to create violent winds that attacks and suffocates it's target.
Yusuke looks with awe to Shorin, and in an instant the attack has been unleashed, the Sickle and Tornado. It immediately goes down, cutting the field of grass and plows into Yusuke’s shoulders. Yusuke is down, and Shorin shows satisfaction. Not long after, Yusuke stands up again, Shorin admits that Yusuke is unusual, since everyone who gets hit by the Sickle and Tornado can not get up.
Shorin jumps again, and readies to attack with his wind technique. As he unleashes it, Yusuke jumps up and he intentionally crosses the wind attack. He goes in between them, forearms covering his face, using his energy to protect himself a bit, he receives wounds from the wind attack, but not enough to put him down.
Crossing his forearms as he reached closed to Shorin, and in a sudden move, Yusuke uses his hand and forearm to lock Shorin’s neck and he takes him down. They crash into the ground with a strong thud sound.
Yusuke stands up to see that Shorin is knocked out. Koenma is shocked that Yusuke actually won the contest. Botan says that it is an incredible feat and Yusuke truly won it. Yusuke walks towards Genkai, only to be told, by Genkai, that the fight is not over yet. Yusuke turns around, and hears laughter. The ground shakes and crumbles, from Shorin, the ground opens and from it appears a menacing creature.
Laughing at the sight, Rando finally appears, and Genkai claims that the true fight will start now.
