Botan flies on her oar to the Spirit World, with Yusuke holding onto the oar as best as he can. They soar over the River Styx until they get to King Enma's fortress.Inside, many ogres are busy running around with huge piles of paperwork. Yusuke compares the fortress to being a busy insurance company.
Worried about how he should address the powerful King Enma, Yusuke make quick plans to attack the gigantic King of Death by the rear, and grabbing him by the neck, and poking him in the eyes. But Botan takes him to an office where he meets Koenma, the son of King Enma, who is no more than a toddler with a pacifier in his mouth. Yusuke finds that hysterical and mocks the Prince of Spirit World. Koenma scolds him severely, telling him he's actually fifty times older than Yusuke.
Koenma gives Yusuke an egg, ordering him to keep it with him all the time. The egg will absorb Yusuke's energy to form the creature inside. If Yusuke's thoughts and actions are good, a harmless creature will come out of the egg and it will guide him and restore his life, but if his spirit is dominated by evil, a brutal monster will come out to devour him and destroy his soul forever.
Now Yusuke has to find a way to keep his body from being cremated, since he needs a body to resurrect to. Atsuko is drunk and too bothered by the loss of her son, so Yusuke looks for Keiko, who's crying in her sleep. Instructed by Botan, he shows up in her dream and promises that he will be back.
Keiko visits Atsuko the next morning, but seeing the woman so depressed, she doesn't have the courage to mention her dream. Botan then suggests that Yusuke enter the body of a person of strong spiritual awareness to tell someone that his body must not be cremated. Knowing his old rival Kuwabara is sometimes assaulted by visions of spirits, Yusuke enters his body. But he can only stay in it for one hour.
Looking for Keiko, Yusuke runs into the restaurant of her parents (the family lives in an apartment above it). She's not there, so he tries to speak to the Yukimuras; but they don't recognize her daughter's childhood friend in Kuwabara's body. Offended by the idea of someone trying to impersonate the late Yusuke, Keiko's parents shoo the boy away.
Still trying to find Keiko, Yusuke runs into a bunch of Kuwabara's enemies along the way, and since they think he is Kuwabara, Yusuke is forced to waste time fighting them all.
At last, Yusuke sees Keiko's friends waiting in front of a shop, but his (Kuwabara's) face is so bruised and bumped that the girls are frightened away when they see him.
Keiko leaves the shop looking for her friends, and Yusuke wonders how he's going to make her recognize him. Coming from behind her, he grabs her breasts and asks, "Guess who?" By reflex, she turns and punches him: "Yusuke, you pig!"
Seeing Kuwabara fallen on the pavement before her, she apologizes, but Yusuke confirms his real identity. He repeats his promise of coming back, and asks her to take care of his body. She nods and hugs him.
The one hour is passed and Kuwabara returns to himself, while Keiko is still hugging him. He doesn't understand a thing, but since he's there and the embrace feels so good... He tightens the hug, but Keiko, somehow noticing the change, and slaps  Kuwabara. Embarassed, she quickly apologizes and runs away, leaving a very confused and bruised Kuwabara behind.
Keiko runs to warn Atsuko, but Yusuke's mother has already opened the casket and seen that her son was still breathing. They embrace, happy to know that Yusuke is still alive.
