Here's some examples of my testing procedures (and the mutated results that followed)
Mini Vong!
I sculpted a minature Vong head over a little rubber ball and proceeded to go through the motions of making a negative mold and doing latex casting. I learned quite a bit doing this. And the results are so darned cute!
How do you paint a Yuuzhan Vong mask? Practice. Practice. Practice
I used one half of my negative mold to create a test Vong face. I developed the cheesecloth stability method here and then tested out about 10 different ways of painting the head (including color schemes on the tattoos and flesh tones) before settling on one.
I'm gonna be covered in this stuff. I want to make it look good. But it has to be light and flexible too. (I'm not too demanding am I?)
Every part of this project is important (except the bag), but the armor has to take on a life of its own. It also had to be shaped properly and colored right. I used some scraps to test the sewing foam method and then proceeded to do coloration and hardening tests as well.
