History
of Tauranga Rudolf Steiner School
In
1986 a group of parents started a Kindergarten in rented premises in Welcome
Bay, Tauranga. In 1988 this evolved to the purchase of a house in Churchill
Road Tauranga which remained the base for the small Kindergarten and School
until the purchase of the rural land at Welcome Bay , 16 acres of beautiful
rolling land bounded by a wetland area housing ducks and pukekos . 1992 was
the start of the School and Kindergarten on the present site. The12 years
between 1992 and today have been marked by continual and steady progress in
the development of the land , buildings and the school itself. Now in 2004
we are one year away from the full primary school. In fact our Class 6 this
year will be the first students to have gone right through the school to the
Class 7 next year. We are blessed with a wonderful College of Teachers all
committed to educating their charges through the hands, the heart, and the
head, and equally committed to their own professional development. We are
also blessed with a body of committed parents who enliven and support the
school. We are blessed again with an active governance body, the Waldorf Schools
(BOP) Trust and have the strong support of the Rudolf Steiner Trust in an
ancillary role. Below is a short photo history of the development of the school.
