Tipping is recommended at 10 - 20 % in hotels, restaurants, cafes, and for taxis and guides.
CLIMATE
The Macedonian Lakeland (just like the rest of the country) has continental climate, which will say - cold winters, with lots of snow in the mountains, and dry hot summers.

WINTER

Mountains are under snow cover from end November till late March, and this is the time for winter sports.
Galichitsa (between Lake Prespa & Lake Ohrid), Yablanitsa (on the western side of Lake Ohrid), and Baba (on the eastern side of Lake Prespa) provide winter sports facilities.
On the other hand, the area down by the lakes can provide many dry and sunny days!

SPRING

Spring is one of the best seasons for nature lovers: nature is waking up after the long winter sleep, colorful flowers are everywhere, and the weather is just right for various activities in open space.
It is also the right moment to explore the rich cultural heritage of the region!

SUMMER

Although hot and dry, the summers in the Macedonian Lakeland are much more pleasant than in other parts of the Balkans: the lake water gets as warm as 24-25o C, the air temperatures are usually around 30o C with  high percentage of moisture, and  nights are fresh.
Thousands of tourists come to the lake waters!

AUTUMN

Just like in spring time, autumn is the most convenient period for exploring nature and culture - the temperatures of the air are mild; one can still swim in the lakes; the tree leaves are colored in million colors...
LANGUAGE
Macedonian is the official language of the country's administration and mother's tongue for nearly 70 % of the population. All other ethnic groups also understand/speak Macedonian.

Macedonian is in wide use by the Macedonian minority in neighboring Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, or by Macedonian immigrants in Australia, Canada, USA and Europe.

The minorities enjoy equal constitutional rights, including the use of their language(s) in educational, cultural, political and other activities. Schools for minorities are established all around the country, news papers are published, and radio and TV programs broadcasted in Albanian, Turkish, Serbian, Roma and Vlach!
