PRESPA - PEACE AND NATURE
In Prespa, you can find endless sandy beaches, mountain slopes rich with game, many stunningly frescoed churches, the peace of a wild and undiscovered country, and even a few pelicans.
Prespa is also the land of apples - every family produces and sells apples.
The biggest settlement and main administrative center of the Prespa region is the small town of Resen.
Ethnological Collection in Podmochani
In the house of the local farmer Yone Eftimoski, you can see one of the richest ethnological collections in Macedonia. Here can be seen wonderful examples of jewelry, weaponry, old coins and over 160 different Macedonian national costumes. Yone is delighted to receive visitors and explain the origins of his colorful artifacts.
Church St. George in Kurbinovo
The church dedicated to St. George is situated near the village of Kurbinovo, hidden away in an idyllic clearing on the approaches to Mount Baba above Lake Prespa. It is a modest building  with magnificent frescoes painted in 1191.The extraordinary wall decoration of this church is one of Macedonia's best examples of medieval painting.
The Island of Golem Grad
Archeological excavations undertaken on the island have shown that it was inhabited from the time of Alexander The Great to medieval times. Traces of the various historical periods can be found on this island, including two churches.
Today the island is uninhabited. And as part of Galichitsa National Park, its rare plant and animal life that have been preserved through the centuries, are now strictly protected.
Boat trips may be taken to the island under the auspices of the park authorities.
