Our positions on issues and why.
John Kerry
We support John Kerry/John Edwards for President. However, we are
not Democrats and do not endorse the Democratic Party. The main reason we support Kerry/Edwards is because we believe that the removal of Goerge W. Bush is top priority in this year's election. John Kerry is the only way to accomplish this. Kerry may not be the best choice, but he is the only one we have. During the Democratic Primaries there were other candidates who we believe would make an excellent President, but these candidates did not get the nomination. Therefore, we are more or less "stuck" with the Kerry/Edwards team.
This is not the year for the Greens or Independents, and even they know it. Many of us would like to see Nader or Cobb elected, but this time around a vote for a third party would be a diversion from the opposition of George Bush and could contribute to his reelection. Many former Nader supporters have left his camp to support Kerry this year because they too know this to be true. It is epecially important to vote Kerry instead of Nader in swing states because they already have a tight race between the two dominant parties. John Kerry's election may not be the greatest thing to happen to us, but he is a push in the right direction.

Homosexual Rights
In light of the recent ongoing controversy over the right of homosexuals to marry, we are siding with the GLBT community. We believe that there is no reason to deny gays the right to be married. Gays are just like everyone else who aren't gay and deserve fair treatment. If we suppress the rights of gays, we will start another "Jim Crow Era" for another group of people. These are human beings and have not done anything to deserve this discrimination.
Marriage was originally a religous practice and over time has become a legal matter. Therefore, as it now is a matter of legal status, an attempt to deny gays the right to marry violates the first amendment rights of gays to have religous freedom. An individual church can deny a gay couple to marry based on what they believe, but marraige can also be done in a courtroom where it would be unconstitutional to allow this discrimination.
