Weather
Vocabulary and phrases
After church many parishioners gather outside church for a chat.  The weather is a common topic for conversation.

David: Hi!  How was your holiday?
Barry:  Oh, hi!  We had a great time thanks.
David: Where did you go this year?
Barry:  We went to Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
David: What was the weather like?
Barry:  Perfect! Warm and sunny everyday.  On the flight back
we flew through a storm so we experienced a little
            turbulence.

Cathy: Hello Margaret!  How's your husband?
Margaret: He's getting better.  I took him out in the wheelchair
on Thursday morning, while the sun was shining.
Cathy: It's been terrible weather this week other than that,
            hasn't it?
Margaret: Oh yes, just awful!  The wind was so cold!

Andrew: Hi Peter! Do you fancy playing golf on Monday?
Peter: I think the forecast is for heavy showers, is it not?
Andrew: Really? I don't know.  I haven't seen the weather
                forecast for tomorrow.

Jane: Hello Patricia!
Patricia: Hello!  How was your trip to the seaside last week?
Jane: The forecast predicted a warm day but it was
completely the opposite.  When we arrived in the
morning it was cloudy and dull.  We thought it was
going to brighten up but it didn't.  By 2 o'clock it was
pooring down and at 4 o'clock we heard thunder and
           saw lightening.
Patrica: What a shame!  You didn't go swimming then?!
Jane: Definitely not.  We spent most of the day in a cafe.
