What do we do in Medellín? Our goal is to train youth who want to go into missions and do missionary work through Training, Evangelism and Mercy Ministry. We live of faith and we are all volunteers, this means that nobody receives payment from YWAM for their work. Here in Medellín we have a DTS "Discipleship Training School" and an IBCS "Introduction to Biblical Counseling School". And in Mercy Ministry we have 3 houses with children. Continue reading and have a look at the pictures. It is a testimony as God is with us in our service for Him. We invite you to be part of us; by coming to be with us physically, supporting or praying for this work. |
Sometimes people ask me what is it that we need in one of the three houses with children, so here I put down a list of the things we need at the moment. · TV and VCR · Computer · Footballs · Educational toys · Coloring pens, markers and color paper. · School things · Towels, blankets and clothes. · Hygiene products, soap etc. · Toys · Radio cassette recorder · Washing machine

We are saying goodbye to Patricia Contreras who has worked with us for years. She will first go to Cartagena and then to Bilbao Spain. You can email her at PattyBilbao@Latinmail.com

We are
grateful to God for the people who come to invest their life here.
They are
an answer to our prayers.
Praise God we already have received a small amount
of money in the special fund
to buy the auto sufficient farm for the
kids.
Let us continue praying for the kids, the farm and long term committed
personnel.
We have a need for people to serve in the area of
childcare.
God bless you,

"Graduation of the students of the Discipleship Training School DTS" |
Greetings from Pilarica Medellín, From here we have a beautiful view over part of the city of Medellín. We are really happy that the Lord gave us this place. The great thing is that this house is also for sale. We are praying to be able to buy this house for YWAM to keep using it to have schools to train youth to go into missions. |

A little drama the students performed about the prodigal son on their graduation day. This drama was very effective on their outreach in the different villages.
|
We just started our 11th Discipleship Training School with 8 students and our 2nd Counseling school with 16 students.

The work process that is carried out at house of Refuge "Mi Hogar" is satisfactory, being able to count on the mercy of God and watching this "Process" from the first day of the year until the last.
About spiritual teaching; the devotionals of the children are focused on the "TRUTH" that makes them free, it guides and it drives them to find their destination in God. Also we are teaching about the "Character of God". It is not that they are all just hearers, but doers of the Word and every day one of them in the devotion time speaks about an attribute of God. It is important to see them work hard to be prepared for what they have to face.
Academically they do good, very responsible in their school tasks with desires to continue ahead. Two are already validating in July, and passing to 8° and 9° grade, in December we will have our first male high school graduate.
The families have closed in on a more affective and familiar link. We already have two mothers who are believing and very respectful to God. The other ones just listen and some positive changes have been seen in their lives. At every moment we are grateful to God for everything that He does. He is the one who encourages us to continue with the supreme calling that the personnel have that works here at Casa Refugio "Mi Hogar."

We have reached a very
special time in the history of this ministry. Two girls from the girls’ house
will be finishing their Discipleship Training School DTS at this time and
besides continued schooling they will step into a new phase of taking a leading
role with the girls in the girls’ house.
Also Alba Oviedo is doing her DTS, and will be coming back soon to continue leading the “Ebenezer” house for girls. She is still short some money for her outreach. If you feel like giving something for that you can write directly to her at AlbaMarinaOviedo@Yahoo.com

We are going to the street, to the sector Guayaquil in downtown. This place is very dangerous because there are a lot of drug addicts, prostitution and delinquency. There we hand out chocolate and bread to the people. I give thanks to God for this work on the street. It is the opportunity to make God known and to take a message of hope to a indigent population full of problems. In this work children and adults are involved. The children we train in Biblical histories, praying and games. The adults we teach in a deep way about the abundant life in Jesus. On the street we have activities like Health Brigade of nutrition, hygiene and recreation with the families. |
|
|
I have many expectations for the next semester, as for the work of the street, the idea is to realize Brigades of health and Brigades of Training and work with the women, since I observe a lot of malnutrition in the children and abuse on the part of the parents to them. |

Valentin Vargas and Glory Díaz Here are
some pictures of the farm we would like to buy for YWAM Mercy Ministries
in Medellín. |
A place where the children can learn a lot more and have more space for their rehabilitation process. |
|
It is high on a mountain slope with a beautiful view where YWAM Colombia had its yearly conference in 1998.
|
We are also looking into buying a van for the farm transportation. Thank you very much for all your help and prayers. God bless you,
|
