Energy (DOE) hosts a two-day scientific symposium From Double Helix
to Human Sequence - and Beyond on April 14 and April 15 at the
Natcher Conference Center in Bethesda, Md.

the Genome to You Nobel Laureate James Watson, National Human
Genome Research Institute Director Francis Collins and others on the
cutting edge of genetics share their insights. An half-day public
symposium held on the morning of April 15th at the Smithsonian's
National Museum of Natural History.
April 14, 2003 Human
Genome Project Press Conference The International Human
Genome Sequencing Consortium, led in the United States by the
National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the Department
of Energy (DOE), announces the successful completion of the Human
Genome Project more than two years ahead of schedule.
March 7, 2003 ENCODE Project
Launch The ENCODE Pilot Project Research Consortium held an
information session for potential applicants to two RFAs being
released. This highly interactive public research consortium of
investigators with diverse backgrounds and expertise are encouraging
discussion about testing and comparing existing computational and
experimental approaches to identify functional sequences in DNA.
