Trakai
Gediminas may have made Trakai his capital in the 1320's. Kestutis made it his base in the 14th Century. The castles were built to defend against the Tutonic Knights. I only have photos of the restored Island Castle. The peninsula castle is a ruin and wasn't nearly as photogenic in the early morning fog.
The island shrouded in early morning fog.
After the fog lifted.
The footbridge leads you to Karaimu gatve, the entrance to the Castle.  The Castle is home to the Trakai Historical Museum.
