Scholarships
THE FOUNDER'S MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Established to commemorate Alpha Sigma Alpha's Centennial in the year 2001. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate members who exemplify the vision, academic pursuits and leadership skills of the Founders. Five $500 scholarships are available.


WILMA WILSON SHARP SCHOLARSHIP: For undergraduates in any field. This scholarship was intiated by the greater Kansas City Alumnae Chapter in 1968 and established in 1970 in honor of Mrs. Sharp, ZZ, President Emerita of Alpha Sigma Alpha. One $1,000 scholarship is available.


MARY TURNER GALLAGHER SCHOLARSHIP:
Will be awarded to a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha for undergraduate work in any field. Mrs. Gallagher, XX, first intiate and former advsior ot Chi Chi Chapter, established in 1967. One $750 scholarship is available.


NATIONAL PHILANTHROPIC SCHOLARSHIP: For graduate or undergraduate work in any field. It was established in 1967 in honor of the national organization. This enables the national organization to help our members pursue their chosen profession. Two $1,000 scholarships are available.


AMY M. SWISHER SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha for graduate or undergraduate work in any field. Miss Swisher, AA, Professor of Art Education Emerita, Miami University of Ohio, and bleoved advsior of Alpha Alpha Chpater, established the scholarship in 1952. One $500 scholarship is available.


MARTHA GREEN DIAMOND SCHOLARSHIP: Established by Martha Diamond, AA, in 1977 for graduate work in any field. To be awarded to a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha. One $1,000 scholarship is available.


SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP: Awarded to a member and non-member pursuing graduate or undergraduate work in the field of Special Education. Tow $500 scholarships are available, one for a member and one for a non-member.


GRACE FULTZ HAWORTH MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: Established in 1981 by a bequest of Grace Fultz Haworth, Delta Delta Chapter, from Ohio University, who served Alpha Sigma Alpha as the National Treasurer from 1922-1934. This scholarship will be awarded annually to an Alpha Sigma Alpha member who possesses a background in music. One $250 scholarship is available.


MARY EMERSON BLACKSTONE SCHOLARSHIP: W. LAwson Blackstone bgan this fund in 1984. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an Alpha Sigma Alpha who demonstrates outstanding teaching of pre-school age children and who possesses, although not limited to, a musical background. Mary Emerson Blackstone, Alpha Theta Chapter, was National Presient from 1961-1964. ONe $250 scholarship is available.


MARJORIE ANDERSON THOMSON SCHOLARSHIP: Ms. Thompson, TT, established this fund in the year 2000. Non-members may submit applications, however, preference will be given to members of Alpha Sigma Alpha. All applicants must have a moderate to severe hearing loss defined as a pure tone deaf average between 55dB and 75dB. One $750 scholarship is available.


LOIS V. BEERS SCHOLARSHIP: Lois Beers, Beta Theta Chapter, established this fund in 2001 to honor her sister, Mary Beer Wiggins, also of Beta Theta. This scholarship will be awarded to an Alpha Sigma Alpha member who is studying, although not limited to, business. One $750 scholarship is available.
